Byron "BK " Davis  Steinway International Artist is returning to Coralville to perform a ninety minute Stevie Wonder tribute.  The performance will take place Friday, November 20 at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are $14-$18, and are available through the CCPA Box Office at 319-248-9370, and online at www.coralvillearts.org.

Davis' Steinway peers are legends such as Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Billy Joel, Herbie Hancock, Ahmad Jamal, Elton John  and others. This concert is a must see!

BK Davis is a Steinway International Artist, one of only a few hundred elites amongst the tens of thousands of professional musicians working today. The Steinway International Artist designation is an honor bestowed on pianists with an impressive body of work. Davis' Steinway peers are legends such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Harry Connick, Jr. and Herbie Hancock.

It is no accident that Davis is in such esteemed company. He has been composing and performing music for 40 years. The jazz pianist/singer composed his first song at age 13 and had it performed by a 150-member church choir - that he was directing - on national television a year later.

Born in Davenport, Iowa, home of 20th century jazz great Bix Beiderbecke, Davis was raised in a musical household. His father, Bishop Ezekiel Davis, conscripted him as a teen to serve as musical director for the seven churches he oversaw, while his mother, Rose Davis, an accomplished vocalist, attended to his vocal and instrumental training. Davis is a multi-instrumentalist who plays more than a dozen instruments besides the piano, including guitar, organ and drums.

He served in the U.S. Army, was honorably discharged, then continued his musical studies at Western Illinois University.

Jazz, R&B, gospel, soul and pop are the genres that propelled Davis to travels around the world. His artistry enticed promoters in Europe, Japan, North America and on the high seas to book him and not one has regretted it.

"What BK has, intellectually, is the capacity to know what the audience wants and when," a Florida club owner said. "He can take you on that magical trip; when it's smooth, he takes you up a hill - then he sets you on fire."

A restless musical intellect, Davis has an impressive and disparate list of accomplishments to his credit:

§  Wrote theme music for the Boy Scouts of America and an Indianapolis 500 race among dozens of commercial jingles that he penned

§  An early adopter of musical independence, he shunned a record contract, created his own company and sold tens of thousands of CDs of his original music

§  Musical and/or choir director for several large churches in the Midwest and on the West Coast

§  Band leader

§  Band member for several well-known artists, such as Johnnie Taylor, BB King and Billy Preston

§  Co-wrote original music with rock and roll legend Little Richard, as well as McFadden and Whitehead, the recording duo best known for their signature tune "Ain't No Stoppin Us Now".

Davis' latest project is to pursue the one accolade he hasn't received: a Grammy nomination. He is in the studio composing a new album and negotiating with a major record label for representation so the new album may be eligible for honors by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the body that bestows Grammy awards.

The special encore showings will give fans another opportunity to see the critically-acclaimed film, which was first brought to theatres by the creative genius behind Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, in association with Fathom Events and Picturehouse entertainment on Sept. 29 as part of an incredible, one-night cinematic event.

Future Vintage Tour. The group embarked on the tour August 20 in Lake Worth, FL and will wrap up in their hometown of Miami on October 24, including stops in New York City, Chicago, and Vegas. ¡Mayday! is joined on tour by fellow Florida native, Kap Kallous. See below for full list of tour dates.

VINTAGE SOUND SHOWCASES BLUES IN MUSCATINE, OCTOBER 3

(Quad Cities, IA & IL)- The Mississippi Valley Blues Society and Vintage Sound 93.1 KMCS-FM  are working together, along with the annual Healthy Living Festival, to present the "Vintage Sound Blues Showcase." This Saturday, October 3, Iowa Avenue in downtown Muscatine (outside of the Missipi Brew, 107 Iowa Avenue) will be closed down for the Blues Showcase. The event is free to the public, with attendees being encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the show.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Live music starts at 3:30pm with the Ellis Kell Band, who just recently celebrated their 25th anniversary of making music together. The Ellis Kell Band have shared the stage with the likes of B.B. King and Willie Nelson, just to name a few.

At 6:00pm Hal Reed and his band take the stage to bring the authentic sound of hill country, Mississippi blues to attendees. The evening wraps up with Iowa Blues Hall of Fame member, Ernie Peniston, along with The Ernie Peniston Band, starting at 9pm. The Ernie Penistion Band features legendary singer, Ernie Peniston who is backed by Manuel Lopez III on keys, Andrea Mendoza on bass, Ian Johnson on guitar, and Jamie Hopkins on drums.

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society president Steve Heston stated, "This is an exciting new partnership.  The Blues Showcase will be the premiere blues event of the area in 2015. We look forward to building a new tradition. This will be the Blues experience that is a must attend event. "

Nashville, TN (Sept 21 2015) -- Singer/songwriter and relentless performer RICK MONROE joins Grammy Award nominee Lee Brice for the Jägermeister Presents: Lee Brice Country Concert Series 2015.  Monroe will act as the brand ambassador and emcee and will open the multi-city tour that runs September 11 through October 24.  This is the seventh consecutive year of Monroe's participation; no other artist has enjoyed as long a run on the Tour. Joining them at the show will be some of today's hottest up-and-coming stars.

MVBS Presents Zach Harris Band and MVBS Band of Bands

As part of an initiative to raise support for The Mississippi Valley Blues Society, MVBS will be presenting the Zach Harris Band and MVBS Band of Bands at Kavanaugh's Hilltop Tap, 1228 30th Street, Rock Island, IL, on Saturday, September 26. The show will start at 8:00 p.m. with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for members of the Mississippi Valley Blues Society or $10 if you are not a member (membership applications will be available at the door).

The Zach Harris Band is the 2015 Preliminary Round winner of the Iowa Blues Challenge and took 2nd Place in the Final Round of the blues band competition in Des Moines, IA. They'll kick things off with a solid fury of blues that you would expect from a longstanding, hardworking group that has been heavily influenced by Chicago and Texas blues, as well as old school Mississippi Delta blues.

In addition to the night's expectations, MVBS has put together a Band of Bands, bringing together eight Quad City musicians to create a full-size melting pot of blues. The Band of Bands was formed by drawing together members of different Quad City based blues bands that share a love for the music. Band of Bands includes Zach Harris, Hal Reed, Kellen Myers, Randy Leasman, QC Slim, Jamie Hopkins, Malone, and Ziggy. All together the eight musicians have been heavily influences with all of the national favorites - BB, Albert and Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Derek Trucks, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton - just to name a few. With such a collective wide range of influences, Band of Bands will have you well branded with what the Quad Cities blues scene has to offer.

"This is by no means a full slate of all the quality musicians in the Quad Cities," states Zach Harris. "We will welcome all blues musicians to join us in making this a memorial and profitable night for MVBS."

Opening the show will be the energetic Northern Irish worship favorites Rend Collective.
