DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2020) — Secretary of State Paul Pate is extending the absentee voting period to 40 days for Iowans who choose to vote by mail in the June primary. He is also encouraging Iowans to cast ballots by mail, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This change will allow voters more time to send their ballots and provide county auditors a longer window for processing.
DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2020) — On 22 March, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration. DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 15 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 105 positive cases. There have been a total of 2,043 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs. According to IDPH, the locations and age ranges of the 15 individuals include: Allamakee County, 1 adult (18-40 years)
DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2020) — On March 21, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that the US Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued a disaster declaration for the state of Iowa as of January 31, 2020 and continuing. The declaration allows pandemic-impacted small businesses to apply for low-interest support loans. The declaration comes after Gov Kim Reynolds submitted a federal-funding request via the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program.
