Davenport, Iowa (January 24, 2019) — The Quad Cities River Bandits, in conjunction with the Houston Astros, announced their field staff for the upcoming 2019 season on Thursday morning. Ray Hernandez will take the reins as manager in his first stop in the Quad Cities. The rest of the staff includes pitching coach Erick Abreu and hitting coach Rafael Pena. The team’s athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach will be announced at a later time.

After an unusually mild winter, cold weather has finally arrived across Iowa and is covering previously open lakes and ponds with a layer of ice. But anglers are cautioned that just because arctic weather is here, they shouldn’t abandon their ice safety practices.

The Storm are back in action Friday night in the third battle of the #ColdWarOn74 at the Peoria Civic Center. It is the first road game for Quad City and will be the home-opener for the Rivermen. The Storm is excited to announce all eight road games versus Peoria will air on WQUD Vintage Radio (107.7).

The Quad City Storm has traded defenseman Troy Henley to the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs to finalize the deal that sent forward Phil Bronner from Roanoke to the Storm. Bronner recorded an assist on the first goal in Storm history opening night.

The Storm is also announcing that this Friday’s game will feature $2 beers to thank fans for the support shown on opening night.

Ticketmaster fees are still waived when fans order their tickets online.

The Quad City Storm Hockey team reminded members of the community to be wary of online ticketing offers and scams ahead of Saturday’s inaugural season opener.
