Immanuel Lutheran Church & Preschool is having their Annual Neighborhood Ice Cream Party on Sunday, August 23rd 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. There will be Ice Cream, Hot dogs, Chili dogs, Popcorn, Pop, and Lemonade; Live music, Games, and much much more for all our neighbors in the West end!

Live Music will be provided by the Band "Smile", wide variety of ice cream flavors to choose from, face painting, games for children & adults, and fun. All food items will be priced at $.50 each; upon registration everyone will receive 3 FREE tickets for the food items of your choice! MOLINE, ILLINOIS - WQPT, Quad Cities PBS will host the 10th Annual Brew Ha Ha at LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport on Saturday, September 19th from 1 to 5 p.m.

The annual tasting event will celebrate its 10th Anniversary and will feature tasting a variety of brews and cheeses.

Musical performances by Minus Six will take place from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., and Penguins Comedy Club will present Dwayne Clark at 2:30 p.m. to bring the "ha ha" to Brew Ha Ha. The always popular Sports Corner will feature big screen televisions to catch Saturday's sports action. Admission to the Brew Ha Ha includes an event program, unlimited tasting, and a commemorative tasting glass.

Michael & Penni Steen, the owners of a popular Halloween attraction have moved their seasonal event to downtown Rock Island. Located in the former Masonic Temple at 420 - 18th Street, "Terror in the Woods" will now be known as " Terror at Skellington Manor".  Bringing this event to the District will be an exciting addition to the downtown area during the month of October.

Terror at Skellington Manor will be hosting open acting auditions for those dedicated individuals who have an extreme passion and creative talent for scaring the yell out of people! We need passionate and creative individuals to join our haunt improv team. Sing-A-Long
A free Summer-Sing-A-Long featuring Stan Muller, an Iowa Accordionist Hall of Fame recipient and traditional German Songs this Sunday, August 9 at the German American Heritage Center. Visitors will learn and sing traditional German songs led by conductor by Henry Storjohann. Stan Muller, an Iowa Accordionist Hall of Fame recipient, will also play along with his accordion. German language classes for beginners
Registration is now being accepted for the fall Beginning German Language Class.  The classes are held every Tuesday from September 1 through November 17, 2009 at 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the German American Heritage Center. The class is $75 for member and $90 for nonmembers. A manual must be also purchased for $20.

Advanced Genealogy Classes
Registration is now being accepted for the fall Advanced Genealogy Classes.  The class teaches participants about research tools and resources available to for researching their family histories. The class is designed for all heritage backgrounds, and are held every Wednesday from August 26 through October 7 - 6:30 p.m at the German American Heritage Center. The class is $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

German American Heritage Center's plans for the future
In October 2009, GAHC will have a re-grand opening where they will debut their newly expanded space to the community. The space will include a new large permanent exhibit, two traveling exhibit spaces, large program facilities, and an improved parking lot. The GAHC will create new programs based on the new permanent exhibit and two new temporary exhibit spaces. This exhibit is highly interactive, audiovisual and intergenerational.

Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) will host its annual Barge Party at the Lake Davenport Sailing Club on River Drive and Oneida Avenue in Davenport on Thursday, August 13 from 5:30pm until 9:00pm.  Chad Pregracke and his LL&W staff and crew are celebrating twelve years of river cleanups, environmental education workshops, river forest restoration projects, engaging communities in river stewardship.  During these twelve years, Chad has been the recipient of many awards including the Jefferson Award, American Institute for Public Service; Heroes of Conservation Nomination, Field & Stream Magazine and The Alumni Award and Dedication of the Pregracke Center at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois.

Attendees will enjoy a true river feast with a fish fry and shrimp boil next to the Mighty Mississippi River.  The LL&W crew will give tours of the house and garbage barges.  There will also be a silent art auction, live music and a few words from Chad and his crew to update you on their progress.  "This event allows us to thank the Quad Cities for all they do to help us continue to make the rivers a cleaner place.  It all makes a difference and everyone should be rewarded," says Chad, founder and president of LL&W.  Tickets for the event are $35 per person.  Reservations can be made by calling the LL&W office at (309) 496-9848 or going to their website at www.livinglandsandwaters.org.

Chad Pregracke started Living Lands & Waters in 1998 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the beautification and restoration of America's major rivers and to the education of people about environmental issues.  From its single boat beginning, LL&W has grown to an internationally known organization with a fleet of barges and work-boats, engaging thousands of volunteers each year in river cleanups, hands-on environmental education workshops, Adopt-a-River-Mile programs and now the MillionTrees project.  "This thank you and fundraiser is a perfect example of how much momentum and teamwork has helped this project progress.  We have supporters flying in from all over the country to celebrate what we have accomplished so far," says Chad.

Command Sergeant Major Blake will serve as the Grand Marshall for this year's 51st Annual celebration. Jim Mertens of WQAD will once again serve as the Parade Emcee.

Moline, Illinois? The Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce and the City of East Moline are proud to present the 51st Annual AMVETS 4th of July Parade to take place on Saturday, July 4th at 1pm in downtown East Moline. This year's theme is "Star Spangled Spectacular."

The 51st Annual AMVETS 4th of July Parade will carry on a tradition for the Quad Cities community of saluting all of the veterans that have served our country. With the theme, "Star Spangled Spectacular," the parade will be a spectacular tribute and celebration to those who served.

The Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting entries for the parade until Friday, June 26th. A $25 late fee will apply to all entries received after June 26th.
