WHERE: Quad City Arts Center & The Left Bank Art League in Rock Island

WHEN:    November 7, 5-7 p.m.

Come down to the District of Rock Island for a taste of chili and some preliminary Christmas shopping. Visit Quad City Arts and Left Bank Art League-just one block apart on 2nd Avenue-to taste and vote for your favorite chili. The chili is complimentary; beverages will be available. Both venues are loaded with one of a kind art and gift items created by local and regional artists. Afterwards, stay to enjoy the close jazz harmony of the What Ever Four Quartet at 7pm at Quad City Arts.

Art Seminar at the Figge this Saturday, Oct 4

Join the Figge for an art seminar on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 2 - 4 pm. The seminar is followed by light refreshments. A cash bar will be available. Scholar David Mackie will share his new research on artist Sir Henry Raeburn RA and will focus on Figge's recent acquisition, Portrait of John, Lord Swinton. Executive Director Sean O'Harrow will explain the importance of the acquisition to the Figge's collection. Free for members or general admission.

Craft Fair

Members of Gilda's Club will host a craft fair with proceeds benefiting the club. Hand crafted items and baked goods will be for sale. The craft fair will be held 11:00 to 1:00 p.m on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Gilda's Club, 1234 E. River Drive, Davenport, Iowa, and there is no admission fee. Noogiefest Annual Halloween Party

Noogiefest, the annual Halloween party for area kids will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Gilda's Club Quad Cities, 1234 E. River Drive, Davenport, Iowa. The event is open to the public and free. Children of all ages can go from room to room to participate in games, crafts and a cake walk. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes and must be accompanied by an adult. Pizza and beverages will also be provided. For more information call 563-326-7504.

Free Family Day this Saturday, September 27 at Figge

The Figge Art Museum is hosting a Free Family Day, "Woven Stories," this Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 12:30 - 3 pm. Admission is free. Children will enjoy art activities, including working with their own mini-looms, paper weaving, and creating their own family portraits. Families can also enjoy the Figge's Family Activity center. Free treats and drinks will also be served. 

 

At 1 pm, Rowen Schussheim-Anderson will give a tapestry weaving demonstration and talk. This event is in conjunction with Figge's Mother  & Child: Henry Moore's West Dean Tapestries exhibition.

Trivia Night In LeClaire

Get your team together because its Trivia Time in LeClaire again -- we will have trivia nights at the LeClaire Civic Center on September 20th, October 18th, and November 15th.
Doors will open at 6:30 and trivia will start at 7:00 P.M. Cost is $10 per person with a $50 minimum per table (up to 8 people per table). All proceeds will go directly to local non-profits. Door prizes will be drawn.
You can bring in beer, wine, snacks  and sodas (no hard alcohol, please!) and the civic center will be selling snacks and drinks.
You don't have to be a genius to come and join the fun!

Open House at Life Fitness Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christin Powers at 563-344-4119 BETTENDORF - The Life Fitness Center, 2222 Middle Road, will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, September 13th from 10am to 1pm. The KUUL morning guys Mark and Steve will be on hand to compete against LFC tennis pros. For each point they score against them, the LFC will reduce new yearly member sign-ups that day by 10%. Visitors can compete in a tennis and free throw contest for prizes. The Quad Cities Flames mascot will be here to hand out player cards. There will free fitness demo classes and a nutrition discussion with Valerie from the Milan Hy Vee. The public is welcome. Participants can register to win a grand prize of $100 gas certificate. Free popcorn and lemonade will be served. 344-4119. Come dressed to work out and play!
