Award Winning Kris Lager Band to play to the Who Else Annual Pig Roast in Nelson, Illinois at 11:00pm
The Kris Lager Band tends to do their own thing without a lot of fanfare.. such as opening for heavy hitters the Los Lonely Boys, or keeping their new CD, which is being produced by Grammy nominee Tab Benoit, a quiet project. They march to the beat of their own drum, and that drum is steady and strong, allowing the foursome to produce music that gets fans up and moving and keeps them up for the entire set.

A touring jam band, KLB has opened for crowds of 30,000 plus, playing with Los Lonely Boys,  Sharon Jones, Blues Traveler, Indigenous, and frequenting venues such as the Hard Rock Café, BB Kings and South by Southwest, as well as headlining their own shows.   The Kris Lager Band is currently in the studio working on a new release, but are still including favorites from past collections including Roots Revival, Transient, and The Mighty Quinn.

As a preview for their fans, they are offering up a new untitled CD showcasing their new music being currently recorded in the studio.
The Kris Lager Band is a Nebraska born group of musicians who have dedicated their lives to learning, living, and loving all aspects of the American music tradition. Self proclaimed "Roots Revivalists", KLB brings an eclectic, original, high energy show to each and every stage they happen to land on. The Kris Lager Band plays a wide range of music from blues and rock, funk and soul, reggae, hip hop, to even gospel and zydeco and they always have a Good Time.  Playing nearly 200 shows a year for the past 5 years has brought tightness and diversity to every set they play and audiences across the country will agree that Kris Lager Band is on the right path. The band consists of John Fairchild on the drums, Brandon Miller on the bass, Jeremiah Weir on the piano, organ, and squeeze-box, and Kris Lager on lead vocals and guitars. With their "Celebrate Life" mantra and good time's vibe, every show runs the gamut of human emotions. Joy and sorrow, love and lament are all wrapped up in one musical experience where the only constant is pure Soul. If you are wondering why you haven't heard the name yet, it's all in good time.
The Kris Lager Band toured as the opener for the Native American Blues Rock band Indigenous.  Front man Mato Nanji liked their sound so much that he hired the 4 musicians to be in his band for nearly 3 years.  After touring the country with Indigenous and playing on his latest release "Broken Lands" the Kris Lager Band is currently back on their own musical path and more enthusiastic than ever to take it to the people.  Their time with Mato has definitely provided a great deal of experience but they were ready to get out there and do their own thing....and their thing is a ton of fun.
Here is your chance to see a unique, energetic, mid-western band on their way up. Don't miss out on this opportunity to see The Kris Lager Band!

First Season at TLP

Role: Ariel in Footloose; Multiple Characters in Working; Ferguson/Dancer in Guys and Dolls

From: Glen Ellyn, IL

College: Webster University, St. Louis, MO

Last Role in College: Young Wife in Hello Again

Why did you choose to come to TLP?

"When I was thinking of working in the summer, the location was important. I like being "in the woods" here. It's like camping. I love being able to do theatre in this environment, it is the ideal theatre experience. Also, the roles I were offered were exciting and challenging."

How did you get started in theatre?

"I was in ballet from ages 4 to 18. I was in my first musical, Annie, in the eighth grade and played Grace. I was in musicals in high school. When I was Amneris in Aida that is when I knew I wanted to theatre for the rest of my life."

You were just in Guys and Dolls. What did you enjoy about being in that production?

"I loved being able to see how quickly a professional show comes together. I realized it in the first musical rehearsal. I saw how talented everyone is and what a strong ensemble we have. It was very exciting."

What is your favorite thing about being in the current show, Working?

"I love being able to observe the guest artists: John Chase, Judy Knudtson and Sharriese Hamilton. They have a different level of excitement and intensity that is interesting to watch. Acting beside them is a blessing."

Why should people see Working?

"Any person in the audience can relate to the characters. Not only is it entertaining but when you are able to personally connect to the characters onstage, it makes the experience more enriching."

How do you like working with guest director, Chuck Smith?

"He gives you a note in rehearsal, you make the slightest change and it brings a whole new life to a character. He makes it a really comfortable atmosphere to work in."

You are currently rehearsing the next show, Footloose. What are you looking forward to, being involved in that production?

"I am looking forward to dancing. Artistic Director, James Beaudry, is directing and choreographing the production. The company is so strong and comfortable with each other. It is like having a fun dance party when we are in rehearsals! I am also excited to work with TLP Alum, Karl Hamilton. He is known for his ATT flash mob commercial. I have seen him on television and it will be exciting to work with him."

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

"I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. I love the books and movies so much that I wish I was a wizard."

Working performs now through June 30th followed by Footloose, July 5th through 15th. Performances are at 7:30pm, Tuesday through Saturdays and there are 2pm matinees on Sundays and Wednesdays. New this season, there is also a Saturday matinee performance on opening weekends at 2pm.
