Serving Those Who Have Served

As a parent of two military children and a former member of the House Armed Services Committee, I know that our service members and their families have made great sacrifices and have courageously served our nation.

Sniper teams from the 33rd IBCT take part in ten-day sniper training

FORT MCCOY, WISCONSIN (06/23/2017) (readMedia)-- U.S. Army snipers in the National Guard are highly trained assets that are often overlooked during large scale training events such as the National Guard's eXportable Combat Training Capability.

Staff Sgt. Joe Bastian, a sniper observer/controller/trainer with First Army's 1st Battalion, 335th Infantry Regiment and former active-duty sniper wants to help change that.

Cleaning up the field - 126th Quartermasters excel during first unit annual training

FORT MCCOY, WI (06/23/2017) (readMedia)-- Clean laundry and a hot shower are luxuries that are sometimes forgone by Soldiers in the field, especially during a three-week annual training period. The Soldiers of the 126th Quartermaster Company based in Quincy, Illinois, provided that luxury and lifted the morale of the Soldiers of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team and its supporting units during eXportable Combat Training Capability 17-02 at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, June 4-24.

Specialized Springfield-based National Guard team returns from Afghanistan

SPRINGFIELD, IL (06/14/2017) (readMedia)-- Approximately 10 Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers who served in Afghanistan returned earlier this month and were reunited with their families.

The Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers who were part of the Bilateral Embedded Support Team-Afghanistan (BEST-A18) mobilized in November. These Soldiers deployed to Afghanistan with the Polish Land Forces in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel as members of Operation Resolute Support.
