BETTENDORF, IOWA (June 13, 2023) — Churches United of the Quad City Area will once again partner with local businesses and churches for Thanksgiving in July, a state-wide, non-perishable food and essential items drive. Churches United competes with other food collection agencies in Iowa to see who can collect the most goods for their community.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (June 22, 2021) — For the sixth consecutive year, Churches United of the Quad City Area will partner with local businesses and churches for Thanksgiving in July, a state-wide, non-perishable foods and essential-items drive. Churches United competes with other food-collection agencies in Iowa to see who can collect the most goods for their community.

EAST MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 7, 2020) — On Sunday, January 26, at 4PM, Churches United of the Quad City Area will celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity by hosting an ecumenical service at First Presbyterian — East Moline, 777 25th Ave, East Moline. This event is free and open to the public. Major Jolinda Shelbourn will be speaking. Pastor Becky Sherwood, Reverend Donald Johnson, Minister Jay McGowan, and Rev Dr Melvin Grimes will also be participating.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (November 1, 2019) — Churches United’s Church Casserole Cook-Off is Saturday, November 2. The event will take place from 4–7PM at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church (1201 13th St, Moline, IL). Prizes will be awarded in each category: Best Main Dish, Best Dessert, and People’s Choice.

If you'd like to attend the competition, tickets are $15 each for adults; $5 for youth age 6-12. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (October 18, 2019) — Since 2009, the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train has come to Davenport, Iowa with their decorated train spreading holiday cheer while helping many in need of food. Churches United has been the proud recipients of the donations coming from the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, collecting non-perishable, non-expired food items for their 24 food pantries, 3 hot meal sites, and domestic-violence shelter at this event. The community will have more to see as Church

Churches United of the Quad City Area gratefully acknowledges the continued support of our hunger and shelter ministries by the Mary Iva Gittens Knouse Trust.

This $2,000 grant award will help us serve individuals and families at our 24 neighborhood food pantries, 3 hot meal sites and Winnie’s Place, the only emergency shelter in the Illinois Quad Cities for homeless women and children who may have survived domestic abuse.

Churches United of the Quad City Area gratefully acknowledges the continued support of our shelter ministry by the Junior Board of Rock Island.

This $500 grant award supports direct services provided at Winnie's Place, the only emergency shelter in the Illinois Quad Cities for women, with or without children, who are homeless for any reason but may be survivors of domestic violence.
