(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg announced new research on the state’s regulatory framework from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University on Tuesday. The data suggests Iowa’s administrative code is overly burdensome to business and industry and impacts growing the economy.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation Friday temporarily suspending certain regulatory provisions pertaining to hours of service for the delivery of propane.

Extreme winter weather conditions and high demand for petroleum products throughout the Midwest have resulted in low supplies of propane. The proclamation temporarily suspends provisions of Iowa Code § 321.449 pertaining to hours of service for crews and drivers delivering propane.

(DES MOINES) – Citing Iowa’s 17-year low unemployment rate, strength of the state’s pension fund, AAA credit rating and low poverty rate, Iowa has been named the 3rd best-run state in the nation, according to a 24/7 Wall St. analysis. That’s up three spots from No. 6 in 2016.

The study’s authors ranked states using four criteria: 2016 unemployment, pension funded ratio, credit rating and outlook, and poverty.

The pledge is part of the council’s commitment to collaborate with state government to strengthen Iowa’s talent pipeline.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, Dec. 7, in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed Patrick McElyea on Friday as district court judge in the Seventh Judicial District. McElyea will fill the judicial seat formerly held by Judge Paul L. Macek.

McElyea, of Davenport, received his law degree from Drake University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Central College. He currently serves as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Iowa.
