MOLINE, ILLILNOIS (September 9, 2024) — After a “COVID-caused” hiatus for the past several years, the Kiwanis Club of Moline is once again hosting their annual trivia night fundraiser! Last time the club held their event, it raised over $2,500 used specifically to benefit local youth charities and youth-based programs in Moline, and surrounding communities. This year’s trivia fundraiser is Friday, September 13, 2024, at City View Celebrations, 701 12th St, Moline, Illinois.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 18, 2023) — The Kiwanis Club of Moline, Illinois, will issue grants to five local organizations on Tuesday, December 19, at their weekly meeting. Each of the organizations will receive $350.00 towards their needs. The funds are collected from Kiwanis members during “happy or sad” announcements. A member of the Porky Committee goes around the room with an actual piggy bank (lovingly called “Porky Pig”).

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (September 4, 2023) — The Kiwanis Club of Moline, Illinois, is partnering with First Baptist Church, 1901 29th St, Moline, for their “Diaper Depot” program. Over the past nine years, the Diaper Depot has served over 1,000 mothers with children, and has provided over 3,700 diapers over the past nine years, through their monthly distribution. The distribution, called “Diaper Depot” is held every third Saturday at the church.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 7, 2022) — The Kiwanis Club of Moline, IL, recently issued grants to five local organizations, with each receiving $450 towards their needs. The funds are collected weekly, during Kiwanis member “happy and sad” announcements. Donations are placed into an actual piggy bank during weekly meetings. This is a long-standing tradition, and members continue to be generous with their contributions to the fund, lovingly called “Porky Pig.”

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 28, 2020) The Kiwanis Club of Moline, Illinois, recently issued $200.00 grants to each of 5 local organizations, for a total of $1,000.00. The funds are collected from member “happy and sad” announcement donations and placed into a (literal) piggy bank during weekly meetings.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 21, 2019) — The Quad City International Airport, operated by the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County, recently implemented a comprehensive application-process including minimum standards for ground-transportation operators doing business at the Quad City International Airport. Ground-transportation operators includes businesses such as Uber, Lyft, taxis, and other for-hire shuttle service providers.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (April 22, 2019) — The Transportation Security Association (TSA) addressed the media at 10AM with a table-top display of prohibited items found at Quad City International Airport. The purpose of the event, according to TSA Regional Spokesperson Mark Howell, was to inform/remind passengers about what is and isn't allowed aboard aircraft when traveling.

What:              "APEX '17" (APEX is an acronym for Airport Mass Casualty Training Exercise) Why:               The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires that an Airport Mass Casualty Training Exercise be conducted every three years. The last exercise was held in 2014.

(Moline, IL) - Members of the Kiwanis Club of Moline, IL will be collecting school supplies at the K-Mart store in Moline, IL, off of 53rd Street & Avenue of the Cities on Saturday July 18th and Saturday July 25th, 2015. The school supply drive is being held as part of the Moline Public Library's Summer Reading Program, and is being supported by Moline Kiwanis club volunteers.

Monetary and supply donations collected will be given to students and teachers in the Moline-Coal Valley school district.  Anyone who donates to the drive  can enter to win a $250.00 gift card, courtesy of K-Mart. Drawing slips will be available at the designated school supply collection table, inside the entrance of the store. Alexandria, VA - Bruce E. Carter, A.A.E., Director of Aviation at the Quad City International Airport has been selected as the recipient of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Distinguished Service Award, presented to airport executives in recognition of career-long leadership and contributions to the aviation industry.
"Bruce is a valued colleague who is well-known for his leadership in the nation's airport management community and the broader aviation industry," said AAAE Chair Randall D. Berg, A.A.E., Director of Airport Operations at the Salt Lake City International Airport. "Distinguished service is a hallmark of Bruce's career, and it is fitting that AAAE has recognized him for the numerous contributions he has made during his remarkable four decades in the industry."
The Distinguished Service Award, given annually, is one of AAAE's highest levels of recognition. Men and women receive this award as a reflection of outstanding accomplishments in their professional and personal lives. Respected leaders of their own communities, these men and women also contribute to other aviation organizations, serve AAAE and its chapters and participate in civic and community affairs. Distinguished Service Award winners exemplify the best in airport management by continually bringing credit to the profession and the aviation community. All DSA winners are Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) and exemplify the standards accreditation seeks to inspire.
Carter began his 40-year career as an air traffic controller in Des Moines, IA, and has held Director of Aviation positions in Waterloo, Iowa and Springfield and Peoria, Illinois before he joined the Quad City International executive team in 1999.
Carter currently serves as a Second Past President of the AAAE Board of Directors and is a Past President of the Great Lakes Chapter AAAE.
The Award was announced at the 86th Annual AAAE Conference and Exposition held in San Antonio, Texas in May and will be presented to Carter at a Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County board meeting to be held this week.
