MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 21, 2023) — Since 1989, the Monmouth Rotary Club has had an annual program focusing on the economy that helps its members attempt to make an accurate economic forecast for the coming year.

Retired Monmouth College economics professor Ken McMillan, the featured speaker at the talk for the past several years, said making an accurate forecast this year is extremely difficult.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 17, 2023) — For the past few years, Corey Pevitz ('24) of Naperville, Illinois, has helped make a difference in the Monmouth chapter of Zeta Beta Tau by serving as the fraternity's risk and wellness director.

"Risk had been the priority in my role, and wellness had been overlooked, especially mental wellness," said Pevitz, who is also president of the Delta Lambda chapter. "Our ZBT national has really started pushing that, though."

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 15, 2023) — Twenty years ago, Jacqueline Scott authored a chapter in the book Philosophy, Feminism, and Faith.

Now the chair of the philosophy department at Loyola University in Chicago, Scott will speak about that chapter when she delivers Monmouth College's annual Samuel M Thompson Memorial Lecture.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 14, 2023) A continent away, on the other side of the Equator, a major project in astronomy is set to begin, and a Monmouth College professor is involved.

Physics professor Michael Solontoi is co-author of a paper that will help scientists utilize a major new telescope being completed at Chile's Vera C Rubin Observatory that will take what amounts to a "ten-year digital movie of the sky."

Donnan is hoping to make a similar splash in an entirely different endeavor this spring, as he'll be a contestant on the NBC singing contest, The Voice.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (March 3, 2023) — A Grammy Award-winning singer found a new fan in Monmouth when Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice — the CNN documentary about the 1970s pop icon — aired a few years back.

Now, that avid fan — Monmouth College junior Ryan Bowman — is hoping to generate interest among his peers in the talented songstress, who recorded in diverse genres until her retirement in 2011 because of Parkinson's disease.
