MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (January 9, 2023) — Monmouth College's educational studies program has received a major boost in its efforts to prepare more teachers for rural communities.

The support comes in the form of a $750,000 federal grant, which US Representative Cheri Bustos of Illinois secured through the federal Community Project Funding program.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (December 22, 2022) — Fifteen years ago, famous actor Richard Thomas walked into a Boston gift shop co-owned and managed by 1971 Monmouth College graduate Mark Duffield.

Rather than ask the actor who portrayed John-Boy on the TV show The Waltons for his autograph, Duffield instead described a project he was planning to Thomas, who helped him add a vital piece to the elaborate puzzle.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (December 19, 2022) — When 74 young women compete January 20-22 in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, Monmouth College, will be well represented.

Juniors Maddie Blaesing of Monmouth and Maddie Wilson of Wyoming, Illinois, earned the right to compete during the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs as winners of the pageants in Warren and Stark County, respectively.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (December 8, 2022) — Ebenezer Scrooge's nephew and American attorney Bryan Stevenson both have words of wisdom that a Monmouth College class taught by professor Craig Vivian has taken to heart.

And because of it, Galesburg senior citizens are experiencing a brighter Christmas season.

Vivian is an instructor of "Inquiry and Identity," a first-year experience required for Monmouth students.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (December 5, 2022) — Monmouth College has received a major national grant to help make higher education more inclusive.

The $470,666 grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute will be used to help create a seamless transfer pathway for Illinois Central College students from underrepresented backgrounds who want to earn a Bachelor's degree in mathematics and science at Monmouth.
