RIVERDALE, IOWA (February 19, 2025) — The next meeting of the Quad Cities Flood Resiliency Alliance will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, 3PM, in the City Hall Community Room in Riverdale, Iowa. The Alliance is open to the public and is a forum for timely and educational information on flood prevention, mitigation, flood insurance, and floodplain management. MOLINE, ILLINOIS (October 2, 2024) — River Action is especially pleased to be gathering the river stakeholders in 2024. We are working in collaboration with experts and policymakers, non-profits, cities, educators, students, media, and scientists, and new this year, collaborating with high schools and colleges to present the Next Gen Summit in collaboration with the Upper Mississippi River Conference.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 19, 2024) — Tonight looks to be a high migration night for Iowa and the Upper Mississippi River. River Action will turn off the bridge lights on the arches of the Centennial bridge, September 19, through the duration of the fall migration.

Citizens are urged to turn off any unnecessary lighting, as well, to help our feathered friends find their way and reduce collisions.

An estimated 382 million birds will migrate through the upper Midwest tonight.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 21, 2024) — River Action’s Senior Citizen Golf Cart Tours allow participants to experience and learn about our Mississippi riverfront while riding in the front seat of a golf cart along beautiful riverfront, Nahant Marsh, or Duck Creek. These guided golf cart tours of riverfront trails on both sides of the Mississippi, Iowa and Illinois, are a fun way to gain knowledge on the past, present, and future of riverfront development.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 22, 2024) — A Quad Cities favorite is back again! River Action’s Senior Golf Cart Tours will take place this year on September 5-6, 2024. This year’s event includes a tour of the Arsenal Island taking place in the early evening allowing for a usually unseen look at the Mississippi River and the historic island.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 14, 2024) — During the entire month of June, River Action’s fifth annual Explore and Seek Scavenger Hunt aims to get families and explorers of all ages outdoors and connected with nature.  Once called “Ride and Seek,” this year’s hunt allows participants to bike, hike, walk, or drive to over twenty parks, Wild Places, and conservation areas to seek the answers to clues listed on a map that is provided with each registration.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 10, 2024) — River Action is thrilled to announce the official launch of its campaign to break the Guinness World Record for the largest flotilla during the highly-anticipated Fifteenth Annual Floatzilla event. Floatzilla, the ultimate celebration of community, outdoor adventure, and river conservation, returns stronger than ever this year, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 13, 2024) — Registration is now open for the Explore the River Series, part of River Action’s Summer Education Program. Participants get to learn first-hand from experts about the wildlife, history, culture, and geography along the Mississippi River through a series of Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (May 6, 2024) — River Action will turn out the Centennial Bridge lights at 11PM, on the nights of May 6, 7, and 8 in order to protect birds migrating nocturnally as they pass through the Quad City region. This operation will be conducted by Art-o-Lite/Crawford Company.
