Big Cats Return to Niabi Zoo Following Cat House Renovations

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (July 13, 2025) — Niabi Zoo is excited to welcome back its Amur leopards, snow leopards, and African leopard following extensive renovations to their habitat. After sustaining significant structural damage during the severe January 2024 winter snowstorms, the big cat house has been rebuilt to better meet the animals’ needs and support the zoo’s long-term care and conservation goals.

End of Year Giving for Niabi Zoo Recovery

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (December 20, 2024) — As most are likely aware by now, Niabi Zoo experienced significant damage to facilities and infrastructure due to heavy snowfall in January 2024. Repairs and construction have taken place throughout the entire 2024 season. Major accomplishments include a completely new roof for the rhino barn, the replacement of the roof structure of the animal encounters exhibit, and the gutters were replaced on most buildings.
