Boo at the Zoo

Mark your calendars for this weekend's "merry not scary" Halloween event at Niabi. Boo at the Zoo is Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Revel in trick-or-treat stations, decorated trails and Zookeeper Chats, perfect for the young and young at heart. Don't forget your costume! 


Watch bats during the day? YOU CAN do it at Niabi!


Come see the new bats at Niabi Zoo! The exhibit, which features Seba's short-tailed bats, uses lighting systems and other technologies to reverse day and night making the animals active and alert for visitor's "night exhibit" experience.

Passionate about animals? Consider becoming a Volunteer at the Niabi Zoo! We are hosting a Volunteer Information Session on Wed. Aug. 2 at 6:30pm in the Zoo Administration Building. Come learn about the commitments and requirements for our exciting positions!

It's just about time to wrap up the 2015 season, but you still have time to come out for a fall walk to see the leaves changing color.

Dress the kids in their costumes and trick-or-treat during the day at the zoo. Stop at the vendor booths for treats as you stroll through the zoo at this merry not scary Halloween event.
The event is free for zoo members. Regular admission rates apply.

The kids are back in school and soon fall will be here. When the seasons change, so do the zoo's hours.

Last admission at 3 pm each day. The last pony rides of the season will be September 7. Purchase tickets at the zoo's entrance gate.
There are three more Breakfast with the Animals dates for this season. Enjoy a warm breakfast buffet at 8:30 am then do a zoo activity. The activities change and may include a visit behind the scenes, an up close animal encounter or a chance to speak with the keepers.
The program ends around 9:30 am, then explore Niabi Zoo before the gates open for the day at 10 am.

Sign up for Zoo Tots classes, starting September 10 and running through April 16. The class topic is the same Thursday and Saturday, and topics change each month.
The 60-minute class includes craft time, a story and animal encounter.
Members receive discounted class registration.

The final food and drink menus are being finalized for Pints. Here's a sneak peek at what presenting sponsor Stern Beverage plans to have available at the 5th annual beer tasting:

Dress casual, bring your friends (21 and older) and eat and drink your way through the zoo stopping at the animal exhibits. With the 5:30 start time, you'll have plenty of daylight to explore the zoo.

Before you hear how bored your kids are, get out to Niabi Zoo for a day of animal exploration and family fun.

A visit to the zoo lasts about two hours, depending on the age of the child and how many trips you take on the carrousel and train.

New food options make it easy and more nutritious to have lunch at the zoo.

Insider tip: Come to the zoo right at 10 a.m. to beat the mid-day heat and see the animals in the morning when they are most active. Gates open at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Final admission each day is 4 p.m.

The annual event is back on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. It's a day just for kids where they can act like a monkey, do fun activities and visit the vendor booths. The event is free for zoo members and regular zoo admission applies. No RSVP required.

World Giraffe Day is an initiative of the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF), celebrating the longest-necked animal, on the longest day of the year.  Niabi is hosting games and activities and offering a chance to win a giraffe encounter.

Public giraffe feedings are 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $4 a person and can be purchased at the front gate or with cash at the giraffe platform.

Niabi's snow leopards are excited that winter is coming. Get out to the zoo this weekend before the zoo closes for the season and enjoy fun activities to celebrate these elusive big cats.
Kira and Niko will be the stars of Keeper Chats, free educational talks by a Niabi zookeeper that will give you all kinds of interesting animal facts.

Click the orange Register for Auction button near the top of the screen and follow the simple instructions. You will be asked to provide your cell number and credit card. You will ONLY be charged if you donate or win an auction item. There is no fee to browse or register.

Cool Bidding Features

Receive text messages showing when you've been outbid, reply with a higher bid or set your maximum bid.

To set your maximum bid, enter the item number, your maximum bid amount, and the letter M to indicate the maximum you are willing to bid. The system will automatically bid for you until you win or your max is met. To check the status of your bids, reply to any Qtego text with the word STATUS and send. You'll receive a text showing items on which you are the current high bidder.
