DES MOINES, IOWA (July 10, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation extending existing proclamations of disaster emergency for flooding and severe weather that began in March. This extension allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of the severe weather for an additional 30 days to August 9, 2019.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 3, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds today received word that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made additional assistance available to public entities and nonprofits impacted by severe weather between March 12 and June 15.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 28, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of Christopher Polking as a district court judge in Judicial Election District 2B. Polking, of Carroll, Iowa, received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University and his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. He currently practices law at the Polking Law Office in Carroll and previously served as a part-time judicial magistrate in Carroll County for nine years.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 27, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Liesl Seabert as the Rural Community Revitalization Program Manager for the Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa Initiative, effective July 1, 2019. The Rural Community Revitalization Program Manager works in conjunction with the Governor’s Office and is an employee of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 26, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced the appointment of Kayla Lyon to Director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, effective July 8. Lyon will replace Bruce Trautman, who has served as the acting director since May 2018.
