DES MOINES, IOWA (March 27, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds released the following statement after the Iowa Senate voted to pass SF513, which would allow more access to contraceptives through over-the-counter prescriptions:

“Anything we can do to prevent unintended pregnancies, we should look at it. I want to thank the Iowa Senate for working with me to increase access to contraception for Iowans. The policy makes sense, and it’s the right thing to do.”

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 25, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Peggy A Whitson, space and science consultant and former astronaut, will be the afternoon keynote speaker for the Governor’s 2019 Future Ready Iowa Summit titled “STEM Education + Workplace Partnerships.”

The statewide event, which is open to the public, will take place on Tuesday, April 30, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council will host the event.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 25, 2019) — As a result of President Trump's Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for public and individual assistance for residents of Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, and Woodbury counties in Iowa, disaster unemployment-assistance (DUA) is now available in those counties. DUA expands eligibility for unemployment benefits and provides assistance to the self-employed including business owners and farmers.
