Gov Kim Reynolds, Iowa Leaders Submit Comments on EPA’s Proposed Definition of WOTUS

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 16, 2019) — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Acting Director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bruce Trautman, and Director of the Iowa Department of Transportation Mark Lowe submitted comments to the US Environmental Protection Agency today. The letter voiced support for the EPA’s proposed changes to the definition of “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS).

Federal Individual Assistance Counties Added to Presidential Declaration

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 15, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds was joined by lawmakers to announce a $15 million legislative-funding package for Fiscal Year 19. The governor also signed an Executive Order #4, which creates the Flood Recovery Advisory Board.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Makes Additional Assistance Available to Public Entities and Non-Profits in Flood-Impacted Counties

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds today received word that additional-assistance is now available to public and non-profit entities in flood-impacted counties.

A disaster declaration, issued by President Trump on March 23, 2019, made 56 counties eligible to apply for emergency-work and emergency protective-measures assistance under the federal Public Assistance Program.

Gov Kim Reynolds Issues Proclamation to Extend Assistance Available to Iowans

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds extended existing proclamations of disaster emergency for counties impacted by March flooding.

This proclamation extends the governor’s March 14 activation of Iowa’s disaster-response and recovery efforts for an additional 30 days, to May 12, 2019, and allows state-resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather across the entire state.

Dan Gannon, Chair of the Iowa Commission of Veterans Affairs, will officiate. Governor Kim Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg will give remarks followed by Keynote Speaker Ambassador Kenneth M Quinn, President of the World Food Prize Foundation and former career US Foreign Service Officer.

2019 Governor’s Cup Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Honorees Announced

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg will present the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Governor’s Cup ROTC Award for outstanding achievement to one student from each of the following ROTC programs: Buena Vista University; Iowa State University; University of Dubuque; University of Iowa; and the University of Northern Iowa. The ceremony occurred today at the Joint Forces Headquarters, Iowa National Guard, 6100 NW 78th Ave, Johnston, Iowa.

State Awards $2.9 Million in Catalyst Funding to Rejuvenate Downtowns across Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 11, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg announced today that $2.9 million in Catalyst Grant funding will be awarded to 29 communities across the state. The recipients will be recognized during a special ceremony tonight at the Rural Summit in Grinnell.
