Gov Kim Reynolds Announces Appointments to Iowa’s Boards and Commissions

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 25, 2019) — Gov Kim Reynolds announced several appointments to Iowa’s boards and commissions today. The following appointments are subject to Senate confirmation:

Agricultural Development Board

Gretchen McLain, Fairfield

Alcoholic Beverages Commission

Gary Nystrom, Boone

Architectural Examining Board

Anna Harmon, Everly

Kolby DeWitt, Sioux City

Gov Kim Reynolds Appoints Alan Heavens as District Court Judge

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 22, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Alan Heavens as district court judge in Judicial Election District 1A yesterday.   Heavens, of Garnavillo, Iowa, received his undergraduate degree from the University of St Thomas in St Paul, Minnesota, and his law degree from the University of St Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He currently serves as the Clayton County Attorney.

Gov Kim Reynolds Signs Historic Education Funding Bills

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 19, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed HF 306 and HF 307, historic pre-K-12 education funding at the Iowa State Capitol surrounded by education advocates and students from North Polk Community Schools. HF 306 and HF 307 were the first bills Gov Reynolds signed this year.

Gov Kim Reynolds Encourages Iowa High School and College Students to Join Innovative Cybersecurity Competition

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 18, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds is pleased to announce that Iowa is partnering with SANS to offer the Girls Go CyberStart competition again this year. Iowa first participated in CyberStart in 2017 and Girls Go CyberStart just one year later. As a result, several Iowa students received scholarships for advanced education in cybersecurity and other prizes.
