The classic tale of Sleeping Beauty comes to life this weekend at the Adler through the works of Ballet Quad Cities and Orchestra Iowa. Enter the enchanting world of captivating characters through choreographed dances and melodious music. The long awaited Jersey Boys also kicks off on Tuesday with a show every night until Sunday! Come see for yourself why folks consider this to be the best new musical.

For one day only, find over 400 limited-edition titles on LP, EP, 45, and box set at Ragged Records for this year's Record Store Day. With discounts and live music galore, this year's event is ready to be the largest celebration yet! At the same time, Trash Can Annie Vintage Clothing will be offering a store-wide sale. River Music Experience is alive with events this week. Six-piece indie rock band Kopecky returns to the Redstone Room to shake things up tomorrow. The following evening, jam out with the Kris Lager Band and Jason Carl & the Whole D Band. Feel the rhythm on Sunday when Third Sunday Jazz presents Sam Salomone- Master of the Hammond B-3 Organ. The workshop for kids starts at 3! Monday kicks off with Dave Moore presented by Mississippi Valley Blues Society and on Wednesday, spend An Evening with Todd Snider and Rorey Carroll.

 

The Quad Cities River Bandits take on the Kane County Cougars this weekend over at Modern Woodmen Park. Saturday's game features giveaways, face painting, balloon art, and more for Fan Appreciation Saturday. On Sunday, hang out with your favorite Ice Queen and Snow Princess during Frozen Princess Night. Monday's game includes a Jersey Boys Appearance and Performance for Military Monday!

 

Derby time is near and Me & Billy wants to help you prepare for the big weekend! Ladies, find your perfect hat during the Studio 910 Trunk Show on Wednesday. Former Good Morning America host, Joan Lunden, speaks at the RiverCenter tomorrow during the Gilda's Club Annual Fundraiser presented by Genesis Cancer Care Institute. Join this award-winning journalist, motivational speaker, successful entrepreneur, and mom of seven as she brings insight to top issues in America. For fun of a very different kind on Saturday, you'll find unlimited beer samples, a commemorative glass, live entertainment, and tons o' bacon at the RiverCenter during the Bacon & Beer Festival!
 Right next door, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra performs Masterworks VI at the Adler on Saturday. With the help of multiple choirs, this performance highlights Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Schoenber's Friede auf Erden. Be sure to get your tickets for Ballet Quad Cities': The Sleeping Beauty next Saturday and Jersey Boys April 21 - 26 while you're there.

 The smell of hot dogs, popcorn, and springtime fill the air this weekend as the Quad Cities River Bandits celebrate their Opening Day! Kick-off the 2015 baseball season the right way by cheering the Bandits to a win on Sunday. If you can't make it Sunday, have no fear! The Bandits will also be home Monday and Tuesday evening as they take on the Clinton LumberKings. Check out some awesome promotions scheduled for the 2015 season here.

 What do you get when you fuse together jazz, classical, bluegrass, southern rock, and Indian ragas? The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra! Hear how they combine these sounds with their own original style Saturday at River Music Experience. Singer/songwriter Mason Jennings also returns to the Redstone Room tomorrow performing a show of rugged, acoustic-guitar-driven indie-folk.
 Whether you're looking to paint your own piece or peruse the works of others, there are plenty of resources downtown to get your art fix in. Focusing entirely on health and lifestyle choices, the Women's Health and Lifestyle Fair returns to the RiverCenter Saturday for it's 24th year. For $1 and one can of food, you can enjoy fitness tips, home decorating advice, cooking facts, and more. Later that evening, "stunningly brilliant" pianist, Joel Fan, performs at the Adler with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra Masterworks V. A combination of rhythmic energy and direct expression help this performance characterize the diversity within American music.

Local bands and artists are taking over the second floor of the River Music Experience on Saturday to support "Music in Education Month." Hosted by Local Scene Magazine, this fundraiser for music education will benefit the Rock Island Schools Foundation music education program. On Tuesday, munch on free popcorn while watching The Big Lebowski for this week's Redstone Reels! Later in the week, get your Bluegrass fix when Henhouse Prowlers perform with Franki Joe & Kinfolk.

Indulge in the tastes and sounds of New Orleans without even leaving the Quad Cities when the Figge Art Museum hosts their Mardi Gras Rajun Cajun Fest on Fat Tuesday. All proceeds benefit the museum outreach programs that teach thousands of area students. Be sure to hop over early and peruse the many exhibitions currently at the Figge, too.

With 150+ vendors, delicious cake samples, minute-to-win-it games, and door prizes, the Davenport Jaycee's Bridal Expo is sure to please any bride-to-be at the RiverCenter Saturday. The biggest bridal show in the region will provide opportunities to visit with wedding vendors, learn from a panel of recent brides, and win various wedding-related packages.

 Help make an impact tomorrow night during the One Family, One Night event at River Music Experience featuring The Lion in Rome, Bailiff, and Tambourine. Proceeds from the night will go to one local family in need. Centered on live music just for kids, Kidz Days at RME returns Saturday with Steve Couch. Later that evening, chart-topping blues/rock artist, Anthony Gomes, takes the stage with Winter Blues All-Stars in the Redstone Room!

 500 free flu shots, a job fair, national anthem tryouts, and more...find it all at Modern Woodmen Park on Saturday when the River Bandits and Genesis Health System host Community Day. Connect to the natural world like never before in the Figge Art Museum's new exhibition "Yuriko Yamaguchi: Interconnected in Art, Nature, Science, and Technology" opening Saturday. Prepare to be "wowed" by organic, web-like sculptures from dried potatoes, onion ends, leaves, and other nature-found items. If you haven't had the chance to see the Turned Wood Exhibition at the Figge, make sure you check it out this weekend before it closes on Sunday.

 

 Where might one find bacon, bacon, and more bacon? At Me & Billy's Beer and Bacon Tasting, of course! Brace yourself for a sampling of three separate pairings of bacon with beer on Thursday starting at 7 p.m. SPOILER ALERT: We heard the dessert round includes Guinness, "doughnettes," AND ice cream...

 

 Treat yourself to a movie night over at River Music Experience for this Tuesday's Redstone Reels. Watch Dazed and Confused on their NEW HD projectors and participate in a discussion and trivia games after. Also at RME this week- Eleven Fifty Two with Drama Major and Asbigasamouse, Songwriters in the Round, and The Coop with Genome and The Tripp Brothers.

 

 Mark those calendars for January 25, because Gallery 114's 25/25 event is back! With an opportunity to find the perfect small painting for only $25, this is one show you don't want to pass up. Can't make it Saturday? No worries, Gallery 114 is open Tuesday - Sunday, too! Plenty of time to find that perfectly unique piece of art.

 

 Gather up your favorite seeds and head down to the Food Hub on Saturday for their Seed Saving and Seed Swap event. Starting at 10 a.m., expert seed saver Glenn Drowns will give tips on how to best preserve your seeds. Following her talk, participate in a seed swap with various gardeners and farmers from the area. Later than evening, swing back with some friends for games, raffles, door prizes, and more during Trivia Night at the Freight House.

 

 Calling all brides-to-be - the biggest bridal show in the region takes over the RiverCenter next Saturday! Get your tickets today for the Davenport Jaycees Bridal Expo and spend a day visiting with vendors, learning from lectures, and sampling luscious cakes.  This year's event even has a record-breaking number of vendors. Icestravaganza 2015 is finally here! Head out to our new location at the Freight House to watch award-winning ice sculptor, Dawson List, carve ice sculptures live on site. This event will offer FREE indoor kid's activities including a cookie decorating station, crafts, story time, and more. The Farmers Market will remain open until 4 p.m. so you can shop local, too! Get in the winter spirit and hop to River's Edge for public ice skating that afternoon.


Ain't no party like an after party once evening hits. Come on back Saturday night for heavy hors d'oeuvres from Front Street Brewery, a live DJ set by Just Let Go, a cash bar with a vodka luge, and good company during the Icestravaganza After-Party. After-Party tickets are only $10 and can be purchased here or at the door. What a perfect time to see the ice sculptures professionally lit at night!

 

 Featuring wine samples from local wineries and wine distributors, River Music Experience's Winter Wine Experience is back for it's seventh year Saturday! Sip and sample wine, munch on hors d'oeuvres, and enjoy a performance by the Manny Lopez Septet during this benefit for RME and their musical mission. You can still hit this event and catch Icestravaganza, too.   Tomorrow, kick back to some blues/rock tunes from the Nick Schnebelen Band in the Redstone Room.

 

 Considered to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls is sure to be a hit at the Adler Theatre on Wednesday. This oddball romantic comedy will steal your heart...and laughs. Make a night of it by attending the pre-show dinner at the RiverCenter. Also at the RiverCenter this week- the Big Brothers Big Sisters Putt-A-Round. Go miniature golfing in the winter and help youth in the community all at once. May the putts be with you!
