WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — Senators Charles "Chuck" Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and Sherrod Brown (D-OH), ranking member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, introduced legislation to help provide stable housing options for foster-care youth transitioning to adulthood.

WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced a final rule that will require a $10 non-refundable fee for each H-1B registration submitted by petitioning employers, once it implements the electronic-registration system. The registration fee is part of an agency-wide effort to modernize and process applications more efficiently to live or work in the United States.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds, along with Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Charles "Chuck" Grassley (R-IA), have submitted comments to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on their proposed supplemental rule on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced that EPA’s Office of Environmental Education is now accepting applications for the 2020 Presidential Environmental Youth Awards (PEYA) and Presidential Innovation Awards for Environmental Educators (PIAEE). Winners will be invited to Washington DC in mid-2020 to be honored by the agency and present their work in a poster session.

WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — The National Organic Program, Compliance, and Enforcement/Appeals Annual Summary for Fiscal Year 2019 is now available on the NOP website. The report provides a summary of incoming complaints and appeals, initial actions taken, suspensions, revocations, and case-dispositions during the past fiscal year. Fourth-quarter data show a significant increase in the number of investigations closed, as well as inquiries and appeals resolved.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (November 7, 2019) — The TaxSlayer Center's annual Christmas tree is scheduled to arrive today, Thursday, November 7, at approximately 10-10:30AM. The tree is being donated by the Regency Place Condo Association, per Jim Marsh, of East Moline. The tree is approximately 30-35' tall.  Media is invited and encouraged to attend as the tree is raised.

 

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — The Vera French Foundation hosted its annual Gala on Saturday, October 26th at The Outing Club in Davenport, Iowa. The event celebrated the organization’s 70th anniversary. Since 1949, Vera French Community Mental Health Center (previously the Scott County Mental Health Center before being renamed after Dr Vera French in 1982) has been providing community mental health services.
