QUAD CITIES (July 10, 2019) — Thousands of Quad City-area youth keep learning all summer long at enrichment camps. On Thursday, July 11, they will all gather at the TaxSlayer Center to celebrate efforts to curb summer learning-loss.

The event, National Summer Learning Week, begins at 10AM. The media is invited to see all the activities and to interview campers and leaders about their summer.

Stepping Up for Summer Learning

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 10, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation extending existing proclamations of disaster emergency for flooding and severe weather that began in March. This extension allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of the severe weather for an additional 30 days to August 9, 2019.

OSHKOSH, WISCONSIN (July 10, 2019) — University of Wisconsin Oshkosh officials have announced the names of students who qualified for the University's Dean's List and Honor Roll in spring 2019. To qualify for the honor roll on the UW Oshkosh campus, a student must take at least 12 credits and earn a grade-point-average (GPA) of at least 3.3 (out of a possible 4.0). Those with a GPA of 3.75 or better qualify for the Dean’s List.

WEST BRANCH, IOWA (July 9, 2019) — Photographer Jim Schlett will lead a sunset photography-walk and a presentation at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site this August. Schlett is this year’s Artist-in-Residence for the national park in West Branch, Iowa.

SCOTT COUNTY (July 9, 2019) — On Thursday, July 11, at 9AM, the Scott County Sheriff's Office will hold a Swearing-In Ceremony in the Sheriff's Office Conference Room on the second floor of the Scott County Courthouse. Brent Kilburg, Alex Gries, Ethan Roling and Hope Hammitt have been hired as the newest deputy sheriffs for Scott County.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 9, 2019) – Governor Kim Reynolds announced today that Catherine A Huggins, her chief advisor, is returning to her previous role as executive vice president at Huggins Consulting Group on August 1, 2019. However, Huggins will remain a close advisor to the Governor and her staff.
