DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 7, 2019) — The Cedar Rapids Kernels used another impressive performance from a starting pitcher to beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 5-2 on Sunday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Kai-Wei Teng tossed 7.0 innings and allowed just one unearned run on four hits to pick up the win. That unearned run is the only run the Bandits have put up in 16.0 innings against Cedar Rapids’ two starting pitchers in the series.

Self-help guru Marianne Williamson isn't likely to win the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, despite having probably served the American public more ably than any of her opponents. (Among other things, her Project Angel Food delivers millions of meals to the seriously ill). Good works aside, she's a little too "New Age," spiritual, and individualist/voluntarist-oriented for a population increasingly viewing coercive government as its living and unquestionable God.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 6, 2019) — The Quad Cities River Bandits were baffled by Cedar Rapids Kernels starting-pitcher Andrew Cabezas for the second time this season in a 3-0 loss to open a three-game series at Modern Woodmen Park. After tossing a complete-game shutout, the right-hander has thrown 16.0 scoreless innings against the River Bandits in 2019 and allowed just two hits in the process.

ANKENY, IOWA (July 4, 2019) — The Iowa Biodiesel Board today expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rule for the 2020 Renewable Fuel Standard and 2021 Biomass-based Diesel Volume.

Grant Kimberley, Executive Director of the Iowa Biodiesel Board and Director of Market Development for the Iowa Soybean Association, issued the following statement:

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (July 4, 2019) — On July 6, 12-4PM, NextGen Iowa will support LGBTQIA+ Iowans, register young voters, and recruit volunteers at Cedar Rapids PrideFest at Newbo City Market (1100 3rd St SE).

DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 4, 2019) — In a game that took nearly four hours to complete, the Quad Cities River Bandits outlasted the Beloit Snappers for a 7-4 win in front of 5,003 fans on Independence Day at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bandits earned their fifth straight victory and moved into first place in the Western Division second half standings.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 4, 2019) — As the United States gets ready to celebrate its 243rd birthday, I’m reminded of moments in American history that distinguish our nation as the land of the free and home of the brave. These moments have shown how America’s quest for independence paved the way for freedom from tyranny at home and abroad.
