ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (August 8, 2019) — People are in need in the Quad Cities. According to the River Bend Food Bank, 1 in 8 people in the local community don’t have access to enough food. And according to a June 2018 QC Times article, 38% of Scott County residents can’t afford basic needs, including medical care.

IOWA FALLS, IOWA (August 8, 2019) — The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation has launched Project: Food and Fellowship, a grant program to aid Iowa-based family-readiness coordinators, child- and youth-program coordinators, and military-community volunteers in creating and hosting social gatherings for active duty, reservists, veterans, Gold Star families, and all military families.

WASHINGTON DC (August 8, 2019) — Representative Dave Loebsack announced today that he will be making his annual visit to the Iowa State Fair on Friday, August 9, at 11:30AM. While at the fair, Rep Loebsack will meet with fairgoers and visit the various exhibits and booths. He will also serve as the guest chef at the Iowa Pork Producers tent, hand out hard-boiled eggs at the Egg Council booth, tour the livestock barns, and meet with other groups and organizations at the fair.

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 8, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation extending existing proclamations of disaster emergency for flooding and severe weather that began in March. This extension allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of the severe weather for an additional 30 days to Sept. 8, 2019.
