DES MOINES, IOWA (February 25, 2019) — Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio) and Cultivation Corridor announced they are now accepting nominations for this year’s Iowa Biotech Leader Award that will be presented at IowaBio’s Partnering for Growth conference on April 30.

The award will be presented to an individual who, in the past year, has demonstrated the following traits and commitment to advancing Iowa’s biotech industry:

Because of overwhelming demand, the shelves are emptying out at food banks across the state, which is why hundreds of young farmers from Iowa Farm Bureau came together and raised $5,515 for the Food Bank of Iowa.

WASHINGTON DC (February 26, 2019) — US Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley of Iowa reintroduced legislation to help businesses comply with immigration laws by certifying the legal status of their workforce. The Accountability through Electronic Verification Act would permanently authorize the E-Verify program, an Internet–based system that assists employers in determining whether current or prospective employees are authorized to work in the United States.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 26, 2019) — State Treasurer Michael L Fitzgerald announced the results of the Tuesday, February 19 online Invest in Iowa auction; over $63 million will be deposited in 36 financial institutions across the state. The state will receive an average rate of return of 2.61% on these one-year certificates of deposit. "We continue to see significant interest in this program," Fitzgerald said.
