Recent rainfall has resulted in higher river levels, causing the city to activate its flood plan.  The Mississippi River level is currently 12.86ft and predicted to reach 14.9ft on Friday, September 7.  Should the predicted crest remain at or below 14.9ft there will be little inconvenience or impact to the public.

Flood measures being implemented this week based on the current river level projection are:

DAVENPORT (Sept. 4, 2018) — Putnam Explorers and Explorers Jr. workshops are returning again this year to the Putnam Museum and Science Center beginning September 8. Intended to highlight topics in a fun and interactive way for children in Pre-K* through 5th grade, workshops occur monthly to provide informal enrichment activities. From exploring oceans to astronaut training, there’s something for every young science lover.

Sept. 5 is National Blood Donation Day. The American Red Cross invites the community to help save lives at blood drives planned the week of National Blood Donation Day, as proclaimed by Gov. Bruce Rauner. For the third consecutive year, media personality Dr. Daliah Wachs has worked to enlist all 50 states in promoting blood donation.
