Cindy Cavanagh and Teresa Wyant from Mississippi Bend AEA have been selected for the Innovative Creator Award by Iowa’s Area Education Agencies. The team received the award during a presentation at the AEA Boards of Directors’ Conference on April 5. This is the second year for the awards and it is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate outstanding candidates for their contributions to education and the AEA system.

WASHINGTON – In a joint letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Senate and House Judiciary Committee chairmen Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and former Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) urged the swift implementation of regulations that would drastically curtail the amount of fraud and abuse that has become common in the EB-5 regional center program.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – On April 5, 2018, United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey sentenced Michael William Elliott, Jr., age 46, of Muscatine, to 135 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum. Elliott was ordered to serve five years of supervised release following his term of imprisonmemnt and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

Privately funded program to assist more than 9,800 students in learning about Illinois’ natural heritage

SPRINGFIELD (Apr. 5, 2018) — Gov. Bruce Rauner and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced $107,000 in Biodiversity Field Trip Grants that make it possible for 9,800 students from 35 counties to visit areas of the state where they can learn about nature and conservation this summer.
