Local artists will present a check for $1,700 to Quad City Arts’ Metro Youth Apprenticeship Program at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Quad City Arts’ Rock Island Gallery, 1715, 2nd Ave., Rock Island.  This donation comes from the proceeds of the recent sale of Dean Timmermann’s drawings.

WEST BRANCH, IOWA— Herbert Hoover National Historic Site presents a special exhibit, Cuba - Photographs from the Streets of Havana & Vinales.  One of the United States closest neighbors, Cuba has been the subject of controversy and curiosity for decades.  This exhibit will be available for viewing Saturday, January 6th through Wednesday, February 28th, 2018.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec. 28, 2017) — Today, Hy-Vee, Inc. announced that 100 percent of its private-brand shelf-stable tuna products are now sourced from environmentally preferred fisheries.

Rock Island, IL Christian Care was awarded grant funding of $2,000 from the Wilbert and Carol Keppy Charitable Foundation, $1,000 from the Harris Family Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend and $1,769 from the Mel McKay Trust. Funds will be used to support the various programs and services provided through Christian Care.

The city is expect to see another 2 to 3 inches of snow in a short period of time tomorrow, Friday, December 29th and with that, Public Works is declaring a Snow Emergency for Friday’s event based on predicted conditions.
