Illinois National Guard to Aid in Hurricane Relief

Chicago - Daniel Biss released the following statement after voting against school vouchers.

"Today, Bruce Rauner used a school funding crisis he created to get even more tax breaks for millionaires and fund private schools with taxpayer dollars. Middle class parents like me are fed up with footing the bill for rich people's tax cuts.

ILLINOIS CITY, Ill. (Aug. 29, 2017) – Rangers at Loud Thunder Forest Preserve in Illinois City, Ill., are encouraging the community to close out summer by spending Labor Day weekend camping and enjoying the outdoors. 

While camping pads with water and electrical hookups have already sold out, primitive campsites are still available.

HAMPTON, Ill. (Aug. 29, 2017) – A group of seven tipis will be on display at Illiniwek Forest Preserve Sept. 29 and 30 for a Tipi Gathering designed to provide a glimpse at life of the great plains Native American culture.

The free, educational event will feature music, storytelling, drum circles and dancing. The tipis will also be available for the public to tour.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds announced eight appointments Wednesday to the nine member medical cannabidiol board.

The following appointments are effective Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, are unpaid and are not subject to Senate confirmation:

Medical Cannabidiol Board

Pediatrician: Dr. Ken Cheyne, Clive

Psychiatrist: Dr. Jill Liesveld, Coralville

Law Enforcement: Mike McKelvey, Mason City

Family Medicine: Dr. Lonny Miller, Creston
