Chi-Kung is a Chinese form of energy work. “Chi” means internal energy and “kung” refers to the diligent practice of a discipline. For centuries, the Chinese have used chi-kung practice to maintain and improve health.

Join us when Scott Caulpetzer, who has studied chi-kung for many years, will teach an introduction to this discipline at Main (321 Main Street) on Thursday August 31 at 12 pm noon.

Food trucks and fun on Aug. 21

Employees of Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization based in Rock Island, will enjoy the upcoming solar eclipse at work with food trucks through a “Thank-You Day” event sponsored by the organization.

WHAT:  Modern Woodmen employees are invited to step away from their desks to enjoy food from local food trucks and view the eclipse. Special glasses will be provided.

BEGINNING QUILTING:  Ever wanted to learn to quilt?  Come join us for a chance to learn the history and techniques used in creating a traditional Amana Quilt.  All ages and skill levels are welcome.  Each person will create a beautiful hand quilted wall hanging.  Participants will need to supply 2 yards of fabric (1 yard solid and 1 yard print) of their choosing.  All other materials will be supplied. 

DAVENPORT, IA – Crafted QC will be hosting its first festival, OMG Beckyfest, August 25, 4 PM – Sunset and August 26, 11 AM – 5 PM in Downtown Davenport. The show will take place in the green space on East Second Street between Crafted QC and the RiverCenter. Forty vendors will have a variety of unique handcrafted items and vintage finds for sale. Blue scholarship award for the 2017-2018 school year. The Robert D. Blue Scholarship, which is given by the Foundation, awarded nine Iowa students to assist in covering expenses at an Iowa college. The recipients represented nine Iowa counties and seven Iowa schools.
