Iowa banks outperform the nation in second quarter

JOHNSTON, IOWA (Aug. 22, 2017) – According to second quarter results released by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today, Iowa banks saw continued improvements in loan demand, outpacing the nation in loan growth for the quarter. Iowa-based banks provided more than $58.3 billion in total loans as of the end of the second quarter, up 5.71 percent from $55.1billion in the second quarter of the year prior. This compares to a 3.70 percent increase in total loans nationwide.

Gov. Reynolds kicks off Start of School tour

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds kicked off her Start of School tour Tuesday morning at Edmunds Fine Arts Academy in Des Moines. The governor and Iowa Department of Education Director Ryan Wise will stop in the Emmetsburg Community School District Tuesday afternoon. Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg will join the tour Wednesday for stops in the Forest City, Central Springs and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura community school districts.

Muscatine Art Center receives Cultural Leadership Partners Grant

The Muscatine Art Center is pleased to announce that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Cultural Leadership Partners (CLP) program from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. Grant funds will support wages for weekend staff and specific museum purposes such as purchasing archival materials and presenting public programs.
