AMES, IOWA (March 30, 2022) — The Iowa State Daily announced today it will enter into a yearlong strategic partnership with Iowa State Green Dot, expanding the initiative's reach throughout the Iowa State community.

The partnership will see approximately $20,000 in donated advertising across Iowa State Daily's platforms, allowing Green Dot to reach the students, faculty, and staff of Iowa State on a regular basis.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 29, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the absentee ballot request period for the June 7 primary election is now open. Voters wishing to cast their ballot through the mail can submit their request for an absentee ballot beginning today. Iowa law allows a seventy-day request-period for absentee ballots.

County auditors can begin mailing absentee ballots twenty days ahead of Election Day, which will be Wednesday, May 18.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (March 29, 2022) — United Way Quad Cities is seeking proposals for grants for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which received $496,922 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The grants are federally-funded and administered by United Way Quad Cities and are available to 501(c)3 non-profits, faith-based organizations, and government organizations that provide emergency food, shelter, and rental assistance in Scott or Rock Island counties.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 25, 2022) Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in February from 3.7 percent in January. The state’s jobless rate was 4.4 percent one year ago. The US unemployment rate decreased to 3.8 percent in February.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 28, 2022) — The Iowa Business Council (IBC) has released its first-quarter Economic Outlook Survey for 2022. The report measures member expectations for sales, capital spending, and employment for the next six months. If the index measures above fifty, sentiment is positive. The first-quarter survey's overall economic outlook index is 65.78. The solid results project confidence for the seventh quarter in a row.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (March 28, 2022) — The Muscatine Art Center will offer two programs on the historic Japanese Garden this spring. The first, set for Thursday, April 7, 5:30PM, is an informational session on the rehabilitation of the garden. Director Melanie Alexander will speak about the decision-making process, the scope of the project, the roles of those involved in the project, and the project’s funding sources.
