Iowa State University Announces Spring 2022 Dean's List

AMES, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Approximately 9,500 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2022 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List must have earned a grade-point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of twelve credit hours of graded course work.

Iowa Surpasses 356,000 Voters in June Primary, Second Highest Turnout Since 1994

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces more than 356,000 Iowans participated in the June 7 primary election, according to unofficial numbers released by Sec Pate’s office. More than 73,000 Iowans voted absentee, which is the second-highest total for a primary election in state history.

The unofficial turnout by political party was 195,355 Republicans and 156,589 Democrats.

American Sign Language (ASL) Program Offered Online This Fall

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Time and tuition costs no longer need to be an issue for anyone pursuing a career in sign language. Beginning this fall, students enrolled in Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ American Sign Language (ASL) — English Interpreting program will be able to complete the majority of their coursework online. On-campus class will continue to be offered as well.

Kids Can Eat Free This Summer with the Davenport Community School District

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Davenport Community School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. The program runs June 13-July 29, 2022 (there will be no meals on July 4 for the holiday). Children 1-18 can receive a meal with no qualifications or registration needed.

Snakes in the Library!

DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 7, 2022) — The Davenport Public Library will host Nahant Marsh for a presentation on snakes on June 13, Fairmount, 10AM.

Many people have a fear of snakes. Learning about how snakes live can help people feel more comfortable with these scaly creatures. Staff from the Nahant Marsh Education Center will bring live snakes and participants will learn about their adaptations, diets, and habitats. This program is suitable for all ages.
