MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 4, 2020) — The Quad City Storm is thundering into the nine final games of the regular season with two goals in mind; making the playoffs and reaching the $100,000 mark in their donations to the community.

Currently, The Storm are in a four-way battle for one of the final two playoff positions in the SPHL. This weekend, they face two of the other three teams in the aforementioned battle and with a winning weekend will be in a playoff position.

For Iowa History Month, I want to recognize the role Iowa’s veterans have played in our history.

For instance, in the Civil War, Iowa sent over 75,000 soldiers to fight for the Union, the most per capita of any state.

Iowa has kept that tradition of service, and I often have the pleasure of meeting our veterans.

 

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (March 4, 2020) — Charlie King and the Prince Myshkins will perform Friday, March 20, at Broadway Presbyterian Church, 710 23rd Street, Rock Island, at 7PM

The concert will raise money for Progressive Action for the Common Good, with participation from the Native American Coalition of the Quad Cities, Palomares Center for Social Justice and the Centro Maya Project. Donations are requested but not required.

JOHNSTON, IOWA (March 4, 2020) — Iowa PBS will once again broadcast the Terrace Hill Piano Competition. Airing Friday, March 20 at 8:30PM, the broadcast features performances from the competition's four senior division finalists — John Flannery, Washington; Ashley Xu, Ames; Joya Schreurs, Sheldon; and Tylar Meister, Mitchellville. LENEXA, KANSAS (March 4, 2020) — The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 announced $460,000 in grant funding for the Iowa Department of Education to help schools and childcare programs in Iowa test for lead within their drinking water systems.
