DES MOINES, IOWA (January 27, 2020) — For the second year in a row, auto-related problems topped all categories of complaints reported to the Iowa Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division in 2019.

Other top categories were impostor scams and complaints over media services, home improvement projects and home goods and services.

Overall complaints totaled 3,225, a 7.7% decrease from 2018. That’s the first decrease since at least 2014.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 27, 2020) — With tax-filing season upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available and recent changes at the Department that can assist taxpayers with filing their tax return.

The Department will begin processing returns at the same time as the IRS on January 27. This is because Iowa tax-payers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return. Iowa income-tax returns are due on April 30.
