DES MOINES, IOWA (March 30, 2023) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced new grant awards that will directly support the critical-training opportunities necessary to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) in Iowa. The Entry-Level Driver Training Program will help Iowa meet its strong demand for truck-drivers and school bus-drivers by providing $2.94 million to support 46 different training programs across the state.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (March 27, 2023) — The Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association (ISETA), the trade association serving Iowa’s solar-energy industry, announced its 2023 Board of Directors. Larry Steffen, Owner and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Eagle Point Solar in Dubuque, will lead as ISETA’s president.
DES MOINES, IOWA (March 23, 2023) — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in February from 3.0 percent in January. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate increased from 3.4 percent to 3.6 percent in February. The number of unemployed Iowans decreased to 50,100 in February from 51,200 in January.
DES MOINES, IOWA (March 13, 2023) — Iowa’s unemployment rate was 3.0 percent in January, down from the 3.1 percent initially announced in December. Meanwhile, the US unemployment rate decreased to 3.4 percent. Iowa’s December unemployment rate was also revised to 3.0 percent.
DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 10, 2023) — The Quad Cities region ranked N° 6 in total number of large-scale economic investment projects on the Mississippi River Corridor, with a total of 24 projects according to Site Selection Magazine. The 2022 Governor’s Cup Awards ranked the QC behind only larger metros such as St Louis, Minneapolis, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Memphis.
DES MOINES, IOWA (March 9, 2023) — The Iowa Business Council (IBC) released its annual, nonpartisan review of the state’s economic competitiveness. Known as Iowa’s Competitive Dashboard, the report measures the state’s standing nationally in five categories: economic growth; workforce and education; governance; health and wellness; and demographics and diversity.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 8, 2023) — The Iowa Business Council (IBC) will reveal its annual research report, Iowa’s Competitive Dashboard, during a virtual press conference at 9AM, Thursday, March 9. The organization’s signature report measures how Iowa competes nationally. IBC Chair and Collins Aerospace’s President of Mission Systems Phil Jasper will join IBC President Joe Murphy for an overview of the report’s findings and recommendations during the unveiling.
JOHNSTON, IOWA (March 7, 2023) — Sixteen bankers from banks across the state helped kick off Iowa PBS’ annual pledge drive, known as Festival, which continues through March 12. Volunteers answered pledge phones from 5-10PM to help raise $18,270.62 for the public television network.
