LAWRENCE – Approximately 4,600 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the spring 2014 semester.

The students, from KU's Lawrence campus and the schools of Health Professions and Nursing in Kansas City, Kan., represent 94 of 105 Kansas counties, 43 other states and 38 other countries.

The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the schools of Architecture, Design & Planning; Business; Education; Engineering; Health Professions; Journalism; Music; Nursing; Pharmacy; and Social Welfare.

 

Honor roll criteria vary among the university's academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll.

Ms. Joan Leonard joins Jordan Catholic School as Principal Administrator. Ms. Leonard blesses Jordan with over 30 years of instructional and leadership experience as well as an amazing Christian spirit!

Ms. Leonard is happy to be joining the school this year as the 40th Anniversary of its founding is being celebrated. PELLA, (07/09/2014)(readMedia)-- Area students presented during Undergraduate Scholarship Celebration Day, held May 8 at Central College. The event provided more than 130 students with the opportunity to showcase their research and projects in a variety of disciplines.

Jacob Forgie '15 of Le Claire, a biology student, gave a presentation titled "The effect of climate change and forest fragmentation on tick population size and Lyme disease incidence.."

Ashley Ramker '14 of Davenport, a psychology student, gave a presentation titled "The Power of Positive Thinking: The Effects of Positive Psychology Exercises on Personal Well-Being."

Mankato, MN (July 7, 2014) - The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean's lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Marilyn Wells.

Among 2,953 students, a total of 682 students qualified for the High Honor List by achieving a 4.0 straight "A" average, while 2,272 students earned a 3.5 to 3.99 average to qualify for the Honor List.

To qualify for academic honors, undergraduate students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours for the semester.

BETTENDORF, IA - The Carl D. Schillig Memorial Fund, Inc. has announced Kierstyn Feld, Pleasant Valley High School, and Tyler Henson, Bettendorf High School, as the recipients of its 2014 Scholarship. Ms. Feld plans to attend Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and Mr. Henson will attend Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.

The scholarship grants a $4,000 educational awarded to one Bettendorf and one Pleasant Valley High School student, each with at least a 2.3 grade point average and who exemplifies Carl's spirit through participation in a variety of school, community and church-related activities. To date, the Carl D. Schillig Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded 30 Bettendorf and Pleasant Valley High School students with educational scholarships.

The Carl D. Schillig Memorial Scholarship was first awarded in 1998 to graduates of Pleasant Valley High School. In 2002, it was extended to graduates of Bettendorf High School. It was established in memory of Carl Schillig, who was 15 years old when he was killed in a car-pedestrian accident in 1994. Carl was active in a variety of community, school and church activities.

About the Carl D. Schillig Memorial Fund, Inc.: The Carl D. Schillig Memorial Fund was established in 1995 by surviving members of Carl Shillig, who was killed at the age of 15 in a car-pedestrian accident. The fund provides a $4000 college scholarship to graduates of Pleasant Valley High School - which Carl attended - and Bettendorf High School graduates. With Carl's philanthropy as its inspiration, the nonprofit also distributes proceeds from the run to organizations in which Carl was active, including Bettendorf/Pleasant Valley Acquatics, Cornbelt Running Club, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
