WQPT BROADCAST SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE

MOLINE, ILLINOIS - WQPT, Quad Cities PBS is pleased to offer a $500 Broadcast Scholarship to students pursuing a career in broadcasting.

Last year's recipient Kristy Anne Phillipson said "As a senior in the broadcasting department at Western Illinois University in Macomb, I am honored and deeply grateful that I was chosen for this scholarship. It will help me pay for my final year at Western.  It will definitely take some of the stress off."

The annual award can be applied to tuition, books, and fees. Interested students may request an application through WQPT by calling 309-764-2400 or 1-800-877-413-2424 or through www.wqpt.org.

Applications will be accepted through April 19, 2013.

Criteria:

v Be accepted to or currently enrolled at Western Illinois University in the broadcasting program

v Reside in WQPT's viewing area or have recently graduated from a high school in the WQPT viewing area

v Overall 2.5 GPA

v Broadcast Classes 3.0 GPA (not applicable to incoming college freshmen)

v Preference given to full-time students although part-time students may apply.

WQPT is a public media service of Western Illinois University Quad Cities located in Moline, Illinois.

University of St. Francis Names Janelle Mosher to Dean's List

JOLIET, IL (01/09/2013)(readMedia)-- The University of St. Francis has named Janelle Mosher, from Sterling, Ill. to its dean's honor list for the Fall 2012 semester.

Students who have attained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the end of the semester in which he or she has taken at least 12 credit hours are named to the dean's honor list.

• Open House at Alleman for 8th Graders early afternoon.
• Parishes will be honoring Catholic Schools Week by designating one mass as a
tribute to Catholic education: St. Pius 9:00am / St. Ambrose 9:30am / St. Patrick's
10:00am / St. Mary's 10:30am / Sacred Heart 9:00am

Monday---- January 28, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: Through our
Heritage
• 8:20am Living Rosary Prayer Service in the gym at Jordan Catholic School.
• 9:40am Mass at Alleman High School for grades 6, 7, & 8.
• Classes or Grade Levels invite former graduates to come in and speak about their
experiences at Jordan. This event will be held at various times throughout the day.

Tuesday------January 29, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our
Community

•

The entire school will be collecting food for the St. Vincent DePaul food
pantry and will be presented on Wednesday morning prior to Mayor Pauley's
proclamation. Each grade level will donate to various community organizations,
such as the animal, battered women, and homeless shelters.

Wednesday------- January 30, 2013 Catholic Schools Raise the Standard: In Faith
• At 8:30am in the gym Mayor Dennis E. Pauley will be presenting a proclamation
honoring Catholic Schools Week in Rock Island, IL. Food items collected for the
St. Vincent DePaul pantry will be presented at this time.
• 1:30pm Mass at St. Pius X Church in Rock Island.
• The students will be visually demonstrating their faith by dressing in colors that
relate to major facets of our religious beliefs.

Thursday-------January 31, 2013 Catholic Schools Raising the Standard: In
Careers/Vocations
• Parishioners, parents, prospective parents, and community members are invited
to an Open House 9:00-12:00 for parents. Prospective parents and community
are invited to visit 9:00-11:00. Come see our classes in session and tour the new
building additions.
• Parents, clergy, and religious will be invited to share their careers or vocations
with our students.

Sarah Walker of Davenport named to Harding University Dean's List

SEARCY, ARK. (01/04/2013)(readMedia)-- Davenport resident Sarah Walker, a sophomore at Harding University, is among more than 1,000 University students included on the dean's list for grades achieved during the fall semester.

The dean's list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,815 students and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Margaux Mae Price of Davenport Graduates from Clemson University

CLEMSON, SC (01/04/2013)(readMedia)-- Margaux Mae Price of Davenport graduated from Clemson University Dec. 20, 2012, with a Doctorate in Human Factors Psychology.

Price was among 1,200 students who received degrees at two graduation ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Graduates in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences; College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities; and College of Engineering and Science received their degrees at a morning ceremony. Those from the College of Business and Behavioral Science and the College of Health Education and Human Development received theirs in the afternoon ceremony.

Patilyn Lowery of Bettendorf Named to University of Evansville Dean's List

EVANSVILLE, IN (01/03/2013)(readMedia)-- Patilyn Lowery of Bettendorf, IA, has achieved a place on the University of Evansville Dean's List for academic achievements during the Fall Semester 2012. Lowery is majoring in Art.

To make the Dean's List, a student at UE must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

ELLSWORTH COMM. COLLEGE FALL DEAN'S LIST

IOWA FALLS - One hundred forty-nine students, including Austin Smith of Davenport, have been named to the Fall 2012 (August to December) Dean's List at Ellsworth Community College. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must have taken 12 or more credit hours during the semester (a full-time class load) and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average while attending ECC classes in Iowa Falls or online. Part-time students are not included on this list, and developmental courses do not count toward a student's GPA. The staff and administration congratulate these students for their academic excellence.

Patrick Igou of Rock Island Inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, LA (01/02/2013)(readMedia)-- The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce that Patrick Igou, of Rock Island, Ill., was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi - the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Igou is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Kansas State University.

Igou is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society. The Society has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Ashworth College is Now Accepting Applications for 2013 Gary Keisling ACCESS Scholarships

PEACHTREE CORNERS, Georgia - January 2, 2012 - Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/), one of the leading accredited online colleges, announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2013 Gary Keisling ACCESS Scholarship program. Applicants will vie for one of 18 scholarships with a combined tuition value of up to $20,000.

Named for the online school's former President and CEO in recognition of Keisling's dedication and contributions to both Ashworth College and the field of distance education, the scholarship program will award 10 career diploma scholarships and four single semester's scholarships each toward Ashworth Associate and Bachelor's degree programs. The scholarships also include all of the student's course materials.

"Gary's personal mission was to open the doors of education to the underserved education population of America and we're excited to continue his legacy by offering these scholarships," said Rob Klapper, President of Ashworth College. He went on to explain that it is Ashworth's ongoing mission to provide affordable, quality education that gives graduates the career training employers want with zero student loan debt.

To be considered for an ACCESS Scholarship, all applicants must submit an application (www.ashworthscholarships.com) and an original 250-500 word essay. All applications are due by February 1, 2013 and recipients will be announced on March 1.

First time students may apply for the career diploma scholarship and both existing Ashworth College students and transfer students may apply for a college degree scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be able to apply their award to their choice of programs which includes business, criminal justice, early childhood education, health care, skilled trades, technology, and more.

Cheyenne Ramsden, Ontario, Canada, was awarded a 2012 ACCESS Scholarship to pursue an Ashworth College Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems. "I'm very honored to have been selected as a recipient. The value of this scholarship is far more than financial - it has inspired me to really make an effort. I wish to thank Ashworth College for their kindness and generosity."

In addition to the Ashworth College scholarships, sister school James Madison High School, is offering an additional four full ride scholarships for a regionally accredited high school diploma.

Founded in 2011, the Gary Keisling Ashworth College Continuing Education for Student Success, or ACCESS Scholarship for short, was founded to honor the online school's former President and CEO, the late Gary Keisling.
