Celebrates the positive impact of quality after-school programs

SPRINGFIELD (Oct. 25, 2017) — Noting the importance of student learning extending beyond school hours, Gov. Bruce Rauner today proclaimed Oct. 26, 2017, as Lights On Afterschool Day in Illinois.

He was joined by officials from ACT Now Coalition and the Springfield Urban League to recognize the importance of student learning beyond the school day.

AMES, IA (10/12/2017)-- Mary Kirk of Davenport, Iowa, has received the Jewel Porter Scholarship from the Iowa State University Department of Human Development and Family Studies for the 2017-18 academic year. Kirk is studying child, adult, and family services at Iowa State.

[MAIN CAMPUS] DAVENPORT, IA (09/22/2017)-- Matthew Berger of Bettendorf, IA, a student in the Associate of Applied Science in Chiropractic Technology (AASCT) program at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, has been named to the Spring 2017 Dean's List.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must achieve a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 in all studies for the respective term. The highest possible GPA is a 4.00.

Law will increase educational access for adults and bring successful diploma programs to Illinois

ROCKFORD (Sept. 22, 2017) – Governor Bruce Rauner today signed HB 2527, amending the Illinois School Code to allow adults without high school degrees to acquire high school diplomas and allow for the creation of quality adult diploma programs.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds will encourage high school seniors to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in a news conference at Saydel High School on Monday (September 25), one week before the opening of a new FAFSA cycle.

 Schools and students around Iowa are celebrating National GEAR UP Week, recognizing the federal program to increase college attainment for students from low-income school districts. Iowa College Aid administers the $22 million grant that serves more than 8,000 students in 12 Iowa districts.
