AMES, IOWA (May 28, 2019) — Bradley Melvin, a microbiology major from Le Claire, has been elected academic chair of the Iowa State University Pre-Medical Club for the 2019-20 academic year.

The Iowa State University Pre-Medical Club helps prepares students for medical school and answers questions about pathways to medical school and the medical profession.

CEDARVILLE, OHIO (May 28, 2019) — Jonathan Builta, a BS-Biology major from Rock Island, Illinois, was named to the Dean's List at Cedarville University.

This recognition required Builta to maintain a 3.5 minimum GPA and carry at least 12 credit hours for the spring 2019 semester.

STORM LAKE, IOWA (May 25, 2019) — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds saluted, championed, and challenged some 570 graduates who gathered near the shores of Storm Lake on Saturday for the 128th commencement celebration at Buena Vista University.

"It seems like only a few years ago I was in your seat waiting to walk across the stage," Gov Reynolds said from the podium gracing center stage in Siebens Fieldhouse.

As a matter of fact, she was in that position.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (May 24, 2019) — The Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation is offering up to 20 $1,500 scholarships to individuals who are continuing their education in nursing, physical/occupational therapy (PT/OT), or health administration with the intent of working in long-term care.  Scholarship applications are due by May 31.

ATCHISON, KANSAS (May 24, 2019) — Benedictine College has recognized those students who have distinguished themselves academically during the last semester, which ended May 7, 2019. 

CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA (May 23, 2019) — Local students graduated from Clemson University at spring 2019 commencement ceremonies.

They are:

Cody Blevins of Davenport, who graduated with a Master's Degree in Architecture

Bryanne M. Trice of Rock Island, who graduated with a Master of Science in Graphic Communications

Clemson awared more than 3,600 degrees in the ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum.

GREENCASTLE, INDIANA (May 23, 2019) — Rachele Miller, of Princeton, Iowa, along with 505 classmates, became the 180th graduating class of DePauw University. The undergraduates were awarded their degrees during the program which took place in Neal Fieldhouse in the Lilly Center on May 19th, 2019. Miller was awarded a BA in Economics.

The day's events included a speech by actor and 1998 DePauw University graduate Drew Powell.

INDIANOLA, IOWA (May 22, 2019) — Mollie Juehring was recognized at Simpson College's Honors Convocation ceremony on April 24, 2019. Mollie received the Sven and Mildred Lekberg Music Award. The junior receiving this award is dedicated to their development as musicians and artists, a passion for music, participation in a wide variety of endeavors in the music department, and a positive leader as a musician and colleague among their peers. Mollie's parents are Diane and Lee Juehring.
