Iowa National Guard sends airmen to Puerto Rico

(DES MOINES) – In cooperation with Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, 24 security forces personnel from the Iowa Air National Guard will deploy on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, to support response operations for Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

2017 Atlantic hurricane season is far from over; US remains at risk for additional strikes

AccuWeather Global Headquarters - September 19, 2017 - AccuWeather reports  additional hurricanes, beyond that of Jose and Maria, are likely over the Atlantic and may threaten the United States for the rest of the 2017 season.

Hurricane season runs through the end of November, and it is possible the Atlantic may continue to produce tropical storms right up to the wire and perhaps into December.

Disaster Relief : HotHouse raising support for Cuba and Mexico

On Thursday, September 8, just before midnight, an 8.1 earthquake hit southern Mexico, the biggest in a century. Hardest hit was the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.  Among the ruins is the cultural center La Casa de Arte y Cultura de Jutchitan de Lidxi Guendabiaan
 
Last week Cuba was hard hit by Hurricane Irma. While the blockade of Cuba and many of the US Treasury Laws make direct aid difficult, this is one way that US folks can give.
