ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (June 6, 2019) — Summer can be a harsh time in the Quad Cities for many in our community. As the temperature and heat-indices rise, many members of our community struggle to stay cool. Christian Care is dedicated to helping those who are less-fortunate by opening its doors as an Emergency Cooling Center when temperatures are 90 degrees and above (including heat index). Those needing assistance are welcome between the hours of 8AM-7PM, seven days a week.

During the summer months, blood-donations often do not keep pace with hospital-demand. WASHINGTON DC (May 24, 2019) — Today, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) permitted marketing of the Synovasure Lateral Flow Test Kit as an aid for the detection of periprosthetic joint-infection (infection around a joint replacement) in the synovial (lubricant) fluid of patients being evaluated for revision surgery, which is surgery performed to replace or compensate for a failed implant.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (May 7, 2019) — A critical bill for Illinois patients will be heard May 8 by the Senate Insurance Committee in Springfield. Led by chief sponsor Senator Laura Fine (D-Glenview), HB2174 requires that health insurers offer co-pay only options for prescription drugs, reducing the up-front burden of deductibles and helping patients be able to better plan and budget for their health-care expenses.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (May 7, 2019) — In an effort to address an Illinois child-welfare system plagued with tragedy, state legislators have teamed up to form the DCFS [Department of Child and Family Services] Child Welfare Reform Caucus and proposed an initial set of reforms through legislation to be considered this week.
