Oakdale Memorial Gardens Walking Tour with Davenport Public Library

Homebrew School is Cancelled

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 1, 2019) — The Library was set to provide a program partnered with the MUGZ Club for a complete homebrewing demonstration, from grain to glass, on Saturday, May 4, 1PM, at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave) for this unique class that will emphasize equipment and technique for the absolute beginner. If you can boil water, you can brew!

Read Away Your Fines

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 1, 2019) — Do you have fines? The entire month of May, the Davenport Public Library is participating in Read Away Your Fines! Simply stop by any of our three locations at the Service Desk and tell them you are interested in reading away your fines. The staff will give you a bookmark to take home. Each book on the bookmark represents one hour of reading and $4 of fines. The books on the back are separated into 15 minute sections.

Iowa State Fair's Fair After Dark Returns with Two New Special Events

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 1, 2019) — Fair After Dark returns to the Iowa State Fair with two special events for Fairgoers in 2019. For the second year, the behind-the-scenes event series will allow Fairgoers 21 and over to experience exclusive Fair sights, sounds and tastes. The 2019 series features two Fair After Dark events: Hungry Games in the Elwell Family Food Center and Crafts and Crafts in the Patty and Jim Cownie Cultural Center.

Your skills will be matched with current locations needing assistance. Upon arrival at the volunteer site, you should anticipate having to sign in and provide your name. This is required in case the event qualifies for potential Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement in the future.

Landmarks Illinois Names 12 Historic Sites to 2019 Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (May 1, 2019) — Landmarks Illinois today announced its 2019 Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois, naming 12 historically, architecturally, and culturally-significant sites throughout the state to its annual list of threatened properties. Bonnie McDonald, Landmarks Illinois President and CEO, led a press conference in Springfield to present the 2019 Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois.
