DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 24, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra’s Volunteers for Symphony (VfS) is one of four volunteer organizations chosen by the Volunteer Council of the League of American Orchestras to receive a Spotlight Award for its 2021-22 Car Raffle. While this was VfS’s first Car Raffle, they sold 546 $100 tickets, which generated $22,000 of support for the QCSO’s music education programs.

Guests who purchased tickets and are unable to attend may contact The Market for a full refund. DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 13, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) is excited to announce its partnership with Second Baptist Church Music and Arts Academy to provide group violin lessons for elementary students.

In 2017, the QCSO and the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley (BGCMV) launched an initiative to create access to music education for members of the Davenport and Moline Boys and Girls Clubs by providing group cello lessons and bi-weekly instruction.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 11, 2023) — The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) is pleased to announce that world-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax will be the featured Gala Guest Artist during the upcoming 2023-24 season. The multi-Grammy®-award-winning artist will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Concertos N° 25 (K503) and N° 20 (K466). The QCSO will bookend these works with Gustav Mahler’s Blumine and Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird: Suite.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 10, 2023) We are happy to announce that actor, writer, and producer David Koechner will be performing in Rhythm City Casino’s Rhythm Room on Sunday, March 5, for two shows at 5PM and 7:30 PM! The first will be a trivia show themed around The Office and hosted by Todd Packer, with the second being a stand-up routine. You must be 21+ to attend either performance, as the Rhythm Room is located on the Casino Floor.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (December 21, 2022) — On Saturday, December 3, 2022, the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles (QCSYE) held its annual Concerto Competition.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 16, 2022) – WQPT will air the London New Year’s Day Parade live on January 1, 2023, 6-9AM, featuring Davenport Central High Schools Blue Devils Marching Band.

The Marching Blue Devils were formally invited on February 13, 2020, to perform in the 2023 London New Years Day Parade.

The Blue Devils will join 8000 performers, including the students, traveling to London from all over the world to march in the 36th-annual New Year’s Day parade.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (December 15, 2022) — The Bix Beiderbecke Museum and World Archives is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new artifact.

One of the trombones owned by jazz musician Newell “Spiegle” Willcox has been donated to the Bix Museum with a megaphone mute played at Carnegie Hall. Willcox played with Bix Beiderbecke in the Goldkette Orchestra from 1926-27 and enjoyed a long career in music until his death in 1999 at the age of 96.
