DES MOINES, IA (11/10/2015)(readMedia)-- Break out your hairspray, bomber jackets and neon leggings to help us celebrate Hairball's return to the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Friday, January 29. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 20. Admission is $23 in advance or $30 the day of the show.

Hairball is the world's ultimate 80s arena rock impersonation act, recreating the good-time party atmosphere of the decade with unmatched authenticity. Rock Star Bob and Kris Voxx bring the musical and performance styles of Guns n' Roses, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Ozzy, AC/DC, Journey, Poison and more to the stage in dead-on visual and vocal performances. By alternating stage time, these performers rapidly change elaborate costumes, seamlessly transitioning from Paul Stanley of KISS to Joe Elliot of Def Leppard without a break in the action. Their ability to cop the persona of the era's legendary front men makes Hairball an international favorite.

Quad City Symphony Orchestra,
Mark Russell Smith, Music Director and Conductor, Presents
Masterworks II: Bach, Brahms, and Shostakovich

Highlighting the Extraordinary Talents of QCSO Concertmaster Naha Greenholtz and
Principal Cellist Hannah Holman

The grace of Bach, the romance of Brahms, and the profundity of Shostakovich will showcase QCSO Concertmaster Naha Greenholtz, Principal Cellist Hannah Holman, and the entire orchestra.

The program will delight with the graceful Baroque simplicity of Bach Sinfonias from Cantatas #42 and #21 displaying a unique and rarely seen - but characteristic Baroque gathering from the days of Bach - led by Music Director and Conductor Mark Russell Smith on harpsichord.

To conclude the first half, the two leading ladies of the orchestra will wow you with their virtuosity in Brahms Double Concerto for Violin, Violoncello and Orchestra in A minor, Op. 102.

The show will conclude with the profound and challenging Symphony #10 by Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich, which probes the depths of tragedy, loss, anger, despair, violence, but closing with triumph, a masterpiece not performed by the QCSO since 2007.  Both Brahms and Shostakovich admired Bach and this represents the unseen common denominator in the carefully crafted repertoire of the QCSO's Masterworks II concert.

There are two performances. The first is Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at Davenport's Adler Theatre, RiverCenter.  The second is Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Hall at Augustana College.

This presentation will sweep you away into new worlds!

Group and student pricing is available for most performances.

More information and tickets for performances and events are available at www.qcso.org or by calling 563-322-QCSO (7276).

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has joined FOP lodges in Chicago, New York City and elsewhere in calling for a boycott of films directed or produced by Quentin Tarantino because of comments Tarantino made that police involved shootings are "murders."

"Mister Tarantino's comments are an insult to the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect each citizen, and even his own father claims Tarantino is 'dead wrong' to have made those remarks," ILFOP President Chris Southwood said. "The 32,000 members of the ILFOP, and our brothers and sisters in law enforcement across the nation, are owed a sincere apology. Until one is received, we urge all citizens to boycott Tarantino's films, many of which glorify the violence he claims to be against with his thoughtless, deliberately inflammatory, and 'dead wrong' comments."

The Fraternal Order of Police, founded in 1915, is the largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States. With a proud tradition of officers representing officers, the FOP is the most respected and most recognized police organization in the country. The Illinois FOP, chartered in 1963, is the second largest State Lodge, proudly representing more than 32,000 active duty and retired police officers - more than 10 percent of all FOP members nationwide.
