WASHINGTON DC (June 4, 2019) — The US Senate unanimously passed bipartisan legislation cosponsored by Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley of Iowa to prevent foreign governments from exploiting US immigration laws in an effort to undermine American democracy. The Defending Elections against Trolls from Enemy Regimes (DETER) Act makes improper interference in U.S. elections a violation of US immigration law, preventing violators from obtaining a visa to enter the United States.
