DES MOINES, IOWA (March 29, 2019) — Gov Kim Reynolds released the following statement:

“Today, I ended negotiations between the State of Iowa and UnitedHealthcare because of terms that I believed to be unreasonable and unsustainable.

"From the day I was sworn in as Governor, I have been committed to ensuring a sustainable managed-care program that protects patients, supports providers, and holds the insurance companies accountable.

With the bill unanimously passing the Iowa Senate earlier in the week, the legislation now moves to the Governor's desk to be signed into law. The CARE (Caregiver Advise, Record, and Enable) Act outlines common-sense steps to help Iowa's more than 317,000 family caregivers when their loved-one goes into the hospital and as they transition home.
