CHICAGO – Governor Bruce Rauner announced today he has made appointments to the Chicago State University Board of Trustees, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Department of Central Management Services and the Department of Agriculture.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry E. Branstad today signed a proclamation directing a special election to be held on January 31, 2017, for Iowa House District 89, following the resignation of Jim Lykam who won a special election for the Iowa State Senate. Lykam replaced Dr. Joe Seng, following his death, in the Iowa State Senate.

Incoming Rep. Mike Halpin Doubles Down on Boss Madigan

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa has a long record of seeking accountability from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and public housing authorities in fulfilling their responsibilities. Grassley described his oversight and ongoing concerns in a meeting today with Dr. Ben Carson, President-elect Trump’s nominee to serve as HUD secretary.

Today, the Budget Committee chairman introduced a resolution to provide for Obamacare repeal and set a path forward for a replacement. Sen. Chuck Grassley, a member of the Budget Committee, made the following comment.

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa will be sworn in today for his seventh term as United States Senator. The Senate will convene at 11 a.m. (CT), noon (ET) for the swearing-in of new and re-elected senators. Vice President Biden will preside over the proceedings.

SPRINGFIELD – Governor Bruce Rauner announced today Illinois Department of Insurance Director Anne Melissa Dowling will return to the private sector in January.
