Iowa’s Youth to Vote on Congressional, Gubernatorial Races on October 25

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 11, 2022) — Thousands of students across Iowa will cast ballots for their preferred congressional and gubernatorial candidates in the upcoming Iowa Youth Straw Poll. On Tuesday, October 25, two weeks before Election Day, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will poll students on their choices. More than 120 schools have registered to participate so far.

Iowa Restaurant Association Names Senator Chris Cournoyer 2022 Legislator of the Year

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 11, 2022) — The Iowa Restaurant Association today announced Iowa Senator Chris Cournoyer as the trade group’s 2022 Legislator of the Year. Sen Cournoyer, who represents Iowa’s 49th Senate District, was a strong voice for the hospitality industry during the 2022 legislative session. Specifically, she shepherded much needed liquor license-reform through the legislative process.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate Helping 47,000 Iowans Register to Vote

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 10, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is helping Iowans register to vote ahead of the 2022 general election. His office mailed a postcard to approximately 47,000 Iowans who are eligible to vote, but not registered. The postcard includes instructions on how to register and a QR code the recipient can use to register online.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 7, 2022) — The Roe Roe Roe Your Vote Rally will kick off at Schwiebert Park, 101 17th St, Rock Island, at 12PM this Saturday, October 8. The rally is sponsored by the Quad City Chapter of National Organization of Women (NOW). Voter registration, early voting, and other information will be available.

Gov Kim Reynolds Announces Grant Program to Reduce Language Barriers in Workforce

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 5, 2022) — Governor Kim Reynolds today announced a new grant opportunity intended to reduce language barriers in the workforce. The Iowa Language Learners Job Training Program will help employers provide sustained programs for English language instruction to support improved communication in the workplace.
