Gilda's Club Quad Cities brings Mandy Harvey & Preacher Lawson to the stage during Intimate Conversations Event

Feb. 6, 2018 (Davenport, Iowa) – The Genesis Cancer Care Institute is proud to welcome Mandy Harvey and Preacher Lawson to the stage for the 9th annual Intimate Conversations fundraiser to benefit Gilda’s Club Quad Cities on Friday, April 6. Lawson, a comedian from Orlando, Florida, was a 2017 top 10 finalist on America’s Got Talent while Harvey took 4th place on the same stage as she used her ukulele to perform original songs during the competition.

CANCELLED – River Bend Foodbank February 7th Food Distribution

Due to expected inclement weather conditions, the February 7th food distribution, which was scheduled to be held at River Bend Foodbank (4010 Kimmel Drive, Davenport), is being cancelled. We regret that the distribution will not take place, however, the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff is always our first consideration. Weather permitting, the next distribution at River Bend Foodbank will take place on March 7th

Kids Arts and Crafts at the Davenport Library in February

It might still be chilly outside, but there’s plenty to do inside with our February lineup of kids arts and crafts programs. Come to one or all four!

Thursday, February 8 at 4:00pm at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) – “Collage Mandala.” Create a dynamic layer mandala by mixing and matching card stock and scrapbook paper. Registration required.

Quad City Area Teen Video Contest

It’s almost time for the annual QC Area Teen Video Contest! You’re invited to create and submit a 3-5 minute video on this year’s theme, “Libraries are for Creating.” Videos will be shown on the Putnum Museum’s Giant Screen at the Teen Video Contest Premiere Party on Thursday March 8 at 6:00pm. Entry forms and complete rules are available at the Library.

Rare and Valuable Books Presentation at the Davenport Library

Cheryl Raley-Kirk from the Source Bookstore will provide insight into rare, out-of-print and collectible books at the “Rare and Valuable Books” presentation. Join us at Main (321 Main Street) on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:00pm to learn what makes a book rare and collectible, how to identify a first edition and how to research a books value. Cheryl will also talk about proper book descriptions, bindings, parts of a book and signed books.
