Every second Thursday of the month, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., QC United will host a variety of up & coming QC stars with a focus on bringing both sides of the river together.

The Hand In Hand  "Special Need Expo" will be provided for families, carvegivers and educators on Saturday April 20, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.  This event will provide "one stop shopping" on a wide range of services for children with intellectual and physical disabilities in the Quad Cities.
Literature and resources people will be available to provide information regarding programs for special needs children from birth to 21 years of age.  Iowa and Illinois activities information will include :  Camps, support groups financial support and resources to assist parents working with their children's school.  This year also includes fun activities such as adapted baseball, art classes and "sled hockey" and dance.  This Hand In Hand event is free to the public.

Dayne Burton is a 36 year old Rock Island man who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The first round of chemo was unsuccessful, so he will have to undergo another round of chemo and receive radiation. Due to his treatments he is unable to work and will incur a vast amount of expenses. He is a well known area muscian and is a member of 2 bands, the Last Glimpses and Drum Major. Dayne is the son of Jeff and Julie Burton.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Dave Loebsack announced today that he will tour Cobham Life Support in Davenport on MONDAY, April 8th.  Loebsack will tour the facility and meet with senior staff and employees.  Cobham recently announced that they were adding 60 jobs at their Davenport plant.

April 13th - Zion Lutheran Church hosting Benefit for Norman Sawyer at Princeton, Iowa Fire Station Princeton. Dinner from 4:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M.. Live auction and entertainment to follow. Tickets are available at Iowa locations of the Blackhawk Bank and Trust. The cost is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 6 to 12 years old (5 and under free. life-long resident of Scott County, Norman has led an active farmer's life raising beef cattle. Sawyer Beef is a staple at Davenport's Farmer's Freight House Market.  The family is actively involved in Zion Lutheran Church and the community of Princeton.   Norman graduated from North Scott in 1964 and Iowa State University in 1968.  He then served in the U. S. Navy.  On April 19, 2012, Norman broke his neck in a farm accident. He was airlifted to a neuro-trauma hospital in Rockford, Illinois.  In critical condition, Norman was paralyzed, on a ventilator and unable to speak or swallow. He had three surgeries to stabilize his neck. Norman spent six months undergoing intensive rehabilitation at the Minneapolis VA Spinal Cord Injury Center.   After a year of rehabilitation and recovery, Norman is finally returning to the family farm.  However, their home requires extensive renovations to be handicapped accessible:  ramps, wheelchair lift, handicapped bathroom, ceiling lift, etc.  The purpose of the benefit is to raise funds to help defray the cost of the renovations to the Sawyer home. If you'd rather watch and relax, check out Dancers in Company to see what the University of Iowa's Premiere Repertoire Dance Ensemble has to show. Friday, Robert Jon & the Wreck visit RME to perform a mix of rock, alternative, and blues tunes.   Limbs with Radcon and Bulk will perform an all-ages show, too.
